Job Description:
We are seeking a Benefits Counseling Assistant to support the Benefits Counseling team in assisting Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with benefits counseling activities related to Medicare, Medicaid, SHIP, and MIPPA programs
  • Maintain accurate records and activity logs within reporting systems
  • Safeguard confidential and sensitive client information
  • Provide administrative support to the Benefits Counseling team
  • Respond to inquiries and assist callers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Remain calm and effective while handling challenging situations
  • Support open enrollment activities and benefits-related processes
  • Perform data entry, documentation, and general clerical duties
Required Skills:
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Benefits Counselor I Certification (or willingness to obtain certification)
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, SHIP, or MIPPA programs
  • Experience in benefits counseling, customer service, healthcare administration, or social services Benefits Counselor I Certification (Preferred): Certification includes 25 hours of training and a qualifying examination.
Certified counselors assist callers with Medicare and Medicaid-related inquiries, including Medicare program selection during open enrollment periods.
