What to Expect Tesla is seeking a Sr. Counsel to join its in-house Legal Department, supporting strategic relationships with key partners. This role will be based in one of Tesla's offices in Austin, Texas, or the Bay Area of California. This position involves providing comprehensive legal guidance to a wide variety of in-house clients on complex commercial relationships and related risks in a fast-paced, innovative environment. This position offers a unique opportunity for a proactive and entrepreneurial lawyer to contribute to a fast-growing, dynamic company by providing strategic legal support and fostering collaboration across global teams. What You'll Do
Support and manage a wide range of commercial contracts with strategic partners, including supply agreements, technology licensing agreements, development agreements, services agreements (including cloud-based services), software license agreements, and confidentiality agreements
Advise a wide variety of in-house clients who work with our strategic partners on strategic, commercial, and regulatory issues
Identify and provide advice and guidance on ways to mitigate any legal or compliance risks associated with Tesla's relationships with strategic partners What You'll Bring
Juris Doctor with current license to practice in at least one U.S. state or Washington, DC
Minimum of 8 years of practice experience, including substantial expertise with a wide variety of commercial transactions, and exposure to litigation, compliance, and regulatory issues. Prior in-house experience at a technology-focused company is preferred
Excellent communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to proactively identify problems, drive projects, make complex cost/benefit assessments, identify pragmatic and creative legal and business solutions, and quickly earn the confidence of colleagues
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while juggling competing priorities in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Quick and flexible learner with well-honed analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, adaptability, comfort with ambiguity and risk, and enthusiasm for dynamic change

Expected Compensation
$188,000 - $342,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
