Job Description
Cardinal Contractors is looking for a Sales Manager for the Kansas City market — but not the kind of manager who just talks, delegates, or watches from the sidelines. This role is for someone who can personally perform every part of the sales process first , prove they can win in the field, and then build, train, and lead a team the right way . Before leading others, this person must be able to: generate leads inspect roofs build trust with homeowners write deals correctly manage the sales process from start to finish consistently produce results We are looking for a leader who leads by example , not by title. Position Overview This is a field-first leadership role . The right candidate will begin by personally handling the same responsibilities as a top-producing sales representative. Once they have shown they can perform at a high level, follow the process, and help create results, they will take on increasing leadership responsibilities, including training, accountability, coaching, and team development. This is not a sit-back management position. If you cannot do the job yourself, you will not be expected to teach it. Sales Manager ResponsibilitiesPhase 1 - Lead from the Front Generate and follow up on leads through company tools, technology, referrals, and prospecting Meet with homeowners to assess roofing and exterior needs Perform roof inspections and document damage accurately Build trust with customers and guide them through the sales process Recommend the correct roofing or exterior solutions based on customer needs Write contracts accurately and move deals through the process Maintain organized records of customer interactions and job status in CRM software Consistently hit and exceed weekly and monthly sales goals Phase 2 - Build and Lead a Team Once proven in the field, this role will expand to include: Train new sales representatives using real field experience and proven process Set performance standards and hold reps accountable Coach team members on inspections, presentations, closing, and customer communication Help develop a strong sales culture built on performance, professionalism, and consistency Work with leadership to improve recruiting, onboarding, training, and team growth Identify weaknesses in the sales process and help improve team performance Lead by example in both production and professionalism What We Offer High income potential Full benefits, including: Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance 401(k) Company truck provided Strong long-term growth opportunity Leadership path based on performance Professional work environment Positive, competitive culture Opportunity to build and lead a real sales team in a growing market What We're Looking For Strong sales ability and leadership mentality Someone who can perform first, then coach others Comfortable in a field-based role and meeting with homeowners Comfortable climbing roofs and performing inspections Strong communication and problem-solving skills High level of personal accountability Motivated, competitive, and driven to produce results Able to train, develop, and hold a team to a high standard Valid driver's license Preferred Experience In-home sales experience Roofing, exterior restoration, or construction sales experience Experience helping train or lead other salespeople Strong track record of production If you want a leadership role, but understand that real leadership starts with doing the work first , this is the opportunity.
