Full-time Regional MDS DirectorPosition:
The Regional MDS Director is responsible for providing strategic oversight, leadership, and operational direction for resident assessment processes across assigned facilities and Regional RAI staff. This position ensures consistency in MDS practices, regulatory compliance, reimbursement optimization, and quality outcomes while serving as the primary resource for complex resident assessment issues. The Regional MDS Director collaborates with Regional Clinical Leadership, facility leadership teams, and Regional RAI personnel to develop standardized processes, mentor staff, and support organizational initiatives. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Oversight Provide direct oversight, mentorship, and support to Regional RAI team members. Establish role expectations, monitor performance, and promote accountability among Regional RAI staff. Foster cross-training and encourage working knowledge among team members in PPS, OBRA, PDPM, Quality Measures, Quality Reporting Program (QRP), and Value-Based Purchasing (VBP). Conduct routine meetings with Regional RAIs to review trends, opportunities, challenges, and educational needs. Assist Regional Clinical Leadership with recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and succession planning of Regional RAI personnel. Clinical and Regulatory Support Serve as the subject matter expert for complex MDS, RAI, and reimbursement issues. Ensure consistency in interpretation and application of the RAI Manual, CMS regulations, and company standards. Provide guidance regarding assessment scheduling, modifications, inactivations, significant corrections, payer changes, and transmission issues. Support facilities during survey preparation, investigations, and plans of correction related to resident assessment processes. Quality and Reimbursement Management Oversee regional performance related to Quality Measures, QRP, VBP, PDPM, and Case Mix Index initiatives. Analyze regional and facility-specific data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with facility leadership teams to develop action plans and monitor outcomes. Promote accurate documentation and assessment practices to support reimbursement integrity and quality outcomes. Facility Engagement Conduct routine facility visits to provide hands-on support, evaluate processes, and strengthen relationships with facility leadership and interdisciplinary teams. Participate in regional committees, QAPI initiatives, and organizational projects. Ensure Regional RAI staff maintain visibility within assigned facilities and provide timely support to facility teams. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse license in good standing. Minimum five (5) years of MDS experience in a skilled nursing facility. Multi-facility oversight experience preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of the RAI Manual, PDPM, OBRA regulations, Quality Measures, QRP, and VBP methodologies. Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, analytical, and communication skills
