Job Description:
The Investigator in the Office of Institutional Equity is responsible for conducting timely, impartial, thorough and reliable investigations pertaining to allegations of protected class discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation in accordance with WKU policies and procedures and various federal and state laws including but not limited to Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. The Institutional Equity Investigator also supports the University's equity compliance training and prevention efforts.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct prompt, impartial, thorough, and reliable investigations pertaining to allegations of protected class discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation in accordance with University policies and Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, and other applicable federal and state laws; Interview complainants, respondents, and relevant witnesses to gather information and evidence; serve as a neutral party through all aspects of the investigative process; and ensure equitable treatment of all parties; Implement interim and supportive measures as appropriate and in coordination with the Executive Director and Title IX Coordinator; Maintain accurate, well-organized, and detailed documentation of all investigative activities, evidence, interviews, and decisions; Draft comprehensive and concise investigative documentation including, but not limited to, complaints, notices of investigation allegations, correspondences, interview notes, and investigative reports; Communicate pertinent investigation updates and information to all relevant parties and/or affiliated stakeholders in a timely and professional manner; Participate in Title IX hearings and other administrative proceedings as required; Maintain compliance knowledge and participate in ongoing training related to Title IX, civil rights laws, and investigative best practices; Maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive information; Assist the Office of Institutional Equity Executive Director and Title IX Coordinator with University-wide training and outreach programming related to anti-discrimination/anti-harassment laws, policies, and procedures including Title IX-related topics; Assist the Office of Institutional Equity Executive Director and Title IX Coordinator in development of University protocols, procedures, and policies; and Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree; At least two years of relevant investigation experience (e.g., civil rights, Title IX, workplace/HR, law enforcement, legal, regulatory, or compliance investigations); and Working knowledge of federal, state, and local equal opportunity and nondiscrimination laws and regulations including, but not limited to, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, FERPA, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Clery Act, and other applicable laws and regulations that prohibit discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation.

Salary Range:
$70,000 - $80,000 Kentucky state law requires all public institutions of postsecondary education to conduct pre-employment criminal background checks to determine suitability for employment.
