The Equal Employment Opportunity Executive Assistant will play a role in DOP's efforts to ensure compliance with the City's EEO Policy. Under the supervision of the EEO Director, the Executive Assistant will assist in the day-to-day operations of the EEO Office. Duties will include but are not limited to the following: Assist the EEO Director in supporting the delivery and tracking of agency training and maintaining compliance with the City of New York's training requirements. Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, preparing materials, updating databases, and supporting the office's flow of communication. Conduct research or data entry as needed to support compliance and equity-related projects Develop and deliver EEO-related training programs for all DOP staff including working on Language Access training and other trainings, if applicable.
Maintain Regular Communication:
Follow-up with staff members to ensure compliance with the City's EEO mandated training. Serve as the Disability Rights Coordinator (DRC) Forward to the EEO officer each request for a reasonable accommodation upon receipt, including any supporting documentation. Submit the accommodation request to the EEO officer on behalf of a requesting individual, as needed. Ensure effective communication between applicants or employees and the EEO Office at every stage of the request and throughout the reasonable accommodation process. Collaborate with other city agencies and internally schedule training for all DOP staff as needed. Liaise with Human Resources, the General Counsel and any other Personnel within the agency to get the appropriate information to complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports sent by the Department of Citywide Administrative Service Manage special projects and perform other related duties, as required. Organize programming and events for the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity across the agency to build community. Maximum salary is not guaranteed.

  • 56058 Minimum Qualifications 1.
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or 2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or 3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above. Preferred Skills The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success with communications and large-scale multifaceted projects.
The candidate will also exhibit:
  • Strong organizational and follow-through to coordinate work plans, prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Experience implementing and managing projects involving diverse stakeholders.
  • Superior writing, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels of the Department.

  • Detail-oriented, excellent analytical skills, including knowledge of statistical methods, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong case management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to interact and work well with others in a diverse team environment, as well as with high-level executives and senior managers.
  • Outstanding analytical, problem solving and creative thinking abilities.
  • Ability to combine attention to detail with a clear understanding of the big picture.
  • Ability to tackle difficult and multifaceted problems in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to write reports and to respond to audits.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
