We're a long-standing California Pizza parlor and restaurant group with 27 locations and nearly 900 team members, and we're looking for an HR Administrator to join our HR & Organizational Development team. This is a hands-on, process-driven position — the kind of role where your attention to detail and follow-through directly impacts every employee's experience, from their first day to their last paycheck. You'll report directly to the Senior HR Manager while working closely with a collaborative HR team to keep our people operations running smoothly: processing benefits and payroll changes, managing onboarding and I-9 compliance, maintaining HR records, and helping us stay current with California's ever-changing employment laws. Full-time, fully on-site position based in Alhambra, CA Monday-Friday schedule during regular business hours Occasional weekend work and overtime may be required based on business needs This role primarily works from the Alhambra office but also includes occasional travel to restaurant locations throughout Southern California (less than 25%) Travel is completed using a personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement and drivetime compensation provided The position offers a combination of office-based HR administration and in-person restaurant support, providing opportunities to work directly with managers and employees in the field WHAT YOU'LL DO
Benefits & Compensation Process day-to-day benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations in our HRIS (Paylocity) Support open enrollment administration, including processing and post-enrollment audits Handle COBRA enrollments and reconciliation Reconcile benefits invoices and help resolve employee benefits questions Process pay adjustments, specialized pay programs, and track California minimum wage updates Support 401(k) administration including enrollments and account funding Onboarding & I-9 Manage pre-boarding paperwork and set up new hires in Paylocity Complete I-9 verifications and reverifications; handle any follow-up documentation Maintain meal waiver compliance records Keep our onboarding document library current and organized Leaves of Absence & Accommodations Process leave paperwork for FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, jury duty, and military leave Track medical documentation and coordinate return-to-work logistics Assist with ADA accommodation case documentation and medical file maintenance Process employment verifications HRIS & Records Own transactional processing in Paylocity:
new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, and pay changes Maintain data accuracy and support routine HR reporting Manage records retention and support audit requests Compliance & Reporting Prepare and submit annual filings including EEO-1, California Pay Data Report, and Form 5500 Maintain required workplace postings and administer the WOTC program Process final pay for terminating employees in compliance with California law Support involuntary termination paperwork WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You'll be set up for success if you have: At least 1-2 years of experience in an HR, payroll, or benefits support role Comfort working in an HRIS system — Paylocity experience is a big plus A working knowledge of California employment law basics (wage/hour rules, I-9, leave laws) Strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines without dropping the ball Clear written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Bonus points for: Experience with benefits open enrollment or 401(k) administration Familiarity with FMLA, CFRA, or PDL leave processing An HR certification (aPHR, PHR, or SHRM-CP) or currently working toward one A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field Bilingual in English and Spanish Background in restaurants, retail, or another multi-location service industry BENEFITS AND PERKS
