Job Description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation's discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years.
NJFC operates three production facilities:
Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA. We are looking for a part time Human Resources Assistant I to provide human resources administrative and clerical support to one or more areas of Human Resources at a unionized manufacturing facility. This role will be responsible for communicating basic information to employees according to human resources programs and policies at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. This is a part-time position (full-time during pack season, July - October, and when running production off season; part-time the rest of the year). Neil Jones Food Company Key Responsibilities:
Responds to routine inquiries about HR and Payroll matters and directs employees to appropriate program information/resources. Compiles information, prepares and processes a wide variety of personnel action forms containing confidential and sensitive information. Assists with recruitment efforts with high volume recruitment including processing applications, onboarding and new hire orientations. May have one or more focus areas within HR functions. Maintains attendance records and tracks employment records.
Requirements :
High School diploma or equivalent; advanced coursework preferred; or, any equivalent combination of training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of the position. 1 year of office experience in an HR environment; preferably in a manufacturing operation. Good skills using Microsoft Office applications; Excel and Word required; Data entry skills and proficient at 10-key. Excellent written and oral communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check including employment and educational verification, credit screen, and to work extended schedule and weekends during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
