PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena is a dynamic, innovative, youth-serving organization that is committed to helping all children and youth build positive, lifelong memories, achieve their greatest potential, and inspire future generations. The Workforce Coordinator's primary responsibility is to ensure every high school teen receives effective Workforce programming and has a safe and first-class after-school experience. This is done by acting as a positive, engaging adult role model, teacher, coach, and mentor. The Workforce Coordinator must have a genuine interest in the growth, development, and provision of a safe and nurturing environment for the teens they encounter, inspire, encourage, and impact. Under the direct supervision of the Teen Director, the Workforce Coordinator is responsible for the overall functioning of the College and Career Center including logistics, planning, scheduling, and coordination of Career Bound programming. The College Bound partner, College Access Program (CAP) is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all college access and readiness programming. The Career Bound portion will include multiple partners with coordination of the programming under the supervision of the Workforce Coordinator. Program responsibilities primarily support BGCP's priority outcome areas of Academic Success and Life & Workforce Readiness. The Workforce Coordinator will also engage in building and nurturing community partnerships, the establishment of systems around scheduling, transportation, and communications, as needed, and the delivery of a broad range of programs within the Teen Center to ensure quality and grant deliverables are met to satisfaction. KEY ROLES
(Essential Job Responsibilities) Strategic Plan and Partnerships
  • Support the advancement and implementation of BGCP's Strategic Plan goals
  • Help identify, cultivate, and maintain strategic partnerships with local schools, businesses, and community organizations to expand opportunities for high school and middle school students
  • Plan and oversee the administration of College & Career Center programs and activities that support key elements of Positive Youth Development.
Specifically, Career Bound programming. Prepare Youth for Success Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in a variety of areas Ensure that all members receive college and career case management and pathway guidance, following the teen Strategic Priority Support and cultivate the strategic outreach plans to increase teen membership and engagement Demonstrate leadership to ensure proper conduct, safety, and development of members Commitment to Safety
  • Contribute to an environment of safety through the learning, implementation, and monitoring of all safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures
  • Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to all safety rules and practices and proactive communication among members, parents, peers, and leadership
  • Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training
  • Complete training and participate in all Emergency Preparedness protocols including drills and communication practices Leadership
  • Reinforce the "One Club" culture, encouraging collaboration and cooperation among all staff
  • Ensure an environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes, with overall responsibility for cleanliness, attractiveness, and safety of properties and equipment
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations, members, parents, families and community organizations With the Teen Director and High School Program Manager, support the development and execution of an annual recruitment plan Program Development, Implementation, and Planning
  • Research best-practice programs and proven methods for life and workforce readiness, both within the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement and throughout the field of youth development
  • Attend and engage in trainings related to youth development, programming, policy, and staffing, at Club and appropriate county-wide program meetings
  • Assist with planning to ensure proper implementation and facilitation of BGCA national programs

  • Coordinate day-to-day teen activities in the College and Career Center, in conjunction with partner agencies, and adherence to goals
  • Assist with ensuring College and Career Center supplies and equipment are maintained daily
  • Ensure program areas are safe, well-ventilated and well-lit
  • Oversee the health and safety of all teen program participants Program Evaluation Participate in the implementation of the Boys & Girls Club of America's annual National Youth Outcomes Initiative (NYOI) and other assessments and evaluations Participate in the evaluation of programming on a continual basis, ensuring activities respond to the needs of members In conjunction with partner agencies, administer pre- and post-surveys of programs, as appropriate Daily Operations • Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of Career Bound programming in partnership with community partners or independently • Work in partnership with College Access Plan (CAP) on workshops, case management, and facility use • Ensure that all members receive pathway guidance and case management, with proper documentation and record keeping • Keep accurate records of programs offered and attendance • Keep accurate calendar of all programs and activities taking place in the College and Career Center • Ensure that every student receives college and career exploration opportunities including workshops, case management, and/or field trips and internships Ensure services at the College and Career Center are offered in accordance with safety policies and procedures Marketing and Public Relations • In collaboration with marketing staff, prepare and distribute parent information and engagement communications in a timely manner Additional Responsibilities • Participate in special programs, events and other projects • Drive Club van periodically to transport members • Consult with parents concerning member issues, as needed
RELATIONSHIPS
Internal:
Maintain close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Maintain contact with members' parents/caregivers, as well as members as needed to discipline, advise, and counsel.
External:
Serve as an ambassador for the Club in the community, maintaining close relationships with possible program partners and other community organizations.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • High School diploma required; bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education preferred
  • Experience working with you around workforce development preferred
  • Minimum of two years of work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience
  • Commitment to the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail, especially around project management
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club members, Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community partners and other groups
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude with all members and staff
  • Ability to project a positive image of Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena, and interact professionally with members, parents, vendors, and others
  • Ability to exchange accurate information
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, lift and walk 75% of the time
  • Must be able to drive and have a vehicle in good working order
  • Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer
  • Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder
  • Occasionally moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
