The ideal candidate will work closly with the HR Director and possess strong payroll knowledge, excellent communication skills, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. This position plays a critical role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while supporting the organization's overall human resources operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Payroll Administration Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule. Maintain payroll records and employee compensation data. Verify employee timecards, attendance records, and leave balances. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Prepare payroll reports and assist with audits as needed. Manage payroll deductions, garnishments, and benefit contributions. Coordinate year-end payroll activities including W-2 preparation and reporting. Human Resources Functions Maintain employee personnel files and HR documentation. Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and employee orientation. Administer employee benefits and assist with enrollment processes. Track employee certifications, training requirements, and compliance records. Support performance evaluation and employee development processes. Assist management with employee relations matters and HR best practices. Ensure compliance with California labor laws and company policies. Administrative Support Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and HR analytics using Microsoft Excel. Track staffing levels, turnover, payroll costs, and workforce metrics. Assist with policy updates, handbook maintenance, and compliance initiatives. Support special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned. Overall supporting the HR Director Qualifications Required Minimum 2 years of payroll and/or human resources experience. Strong knowledge of payroll processing and employment practices. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including: Formulas and Functions Spreadsheet Management Strong organizational and time management skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Willingness to learn new things and adapt well Work well in a team setting Preferred Experience with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, Gusto, or similar systems. Human Resources certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent). Experience working in nonprofit, educational, youth development, or camp environments. Knowledge of California labor laws and wage-and-hour regulations. Experience in work comp Physical Requirements Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally. Ability to travel occasionally to camp locations and events.
