Job Description

Job Summary:
The Human Resources Coordinator performs human resources (HR) related duties and carries out responsibilities in the functional areas of benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, recruitment process, and employment law compliance. Human Resources Coordinator are responsible for handling ADA accommodations and proper completion of Form I-9.
Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential responsibilities/functions. Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of quailified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with department managers to understand skills and compentencies required for openings. Conduct pre-employment screenings; including but not limited to reference checks, background checks, employee eligibility verification, OIG checks, and MVR checks. Conduct orientation of new staff members under the direction of supervisor, and in partnership with pertinent departments. Educate staff on available benefits & incentives. Responsible for daily administration of employee benefits. This includes facilitating open enrollment and life change elections; managing the electronic benefits election system; ensuring plan users, payroll deductions, and monthly invoices appropriately; administering COBRA; and other related activities. Ensure the organization's adherence to effective HR practices and all state & federal employment laws; knowledge of trends, best practices, new technologies in human resources, and talent management; train the department heads of changes or deviations. Prepare for and represent the organization in all unemployment hearings. Administer Worker's Compensation processes. Handles employment-related inquires from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Review Inspiring Lives/PVMI's HR related policies periodically and suggest revisions/additions. Participate in applicable training related to HR duties and make recommendations for policy/protocol consideration to ensure compliance with DOL, FMLA, and other applicable laws/regulations. Create and/or update HR forms as needed/requested. Act as the
HIPPA Compliance Officer:
develop, revise, and enforce policies and procedures: conduct effective employee and management training: conduct internal monitoring and auditing, etc. Administers FMLA Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations. Manage websites that support recruitment efforts.
General Expectations for all employees:
Knowledge of and adherence to the organization's philosphy, policies and procedures. Follow all licensing rules and regulations as set forth by the State of Iowa and regulated by the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals, Department of Human Services, as well as all other external regulatory requirements. Maintain professionalism in appearance and attitude with administration, employees and clients. Be honest, cordial, dependable, confidential, and flexible to positively represent the organization. Continuously exercise good judgement and desire to learn new skills. Participate in continuing education programs and attend all required staff development trainings. Keep supervisor appropriately informed of all matters that require their attention. Prepare to perform Crisis Prevention Intervention techniques when necessary. Free of chemical dependency and communicable diseases. Complete and maintain dependent adult and child abuse training and adhere to the reporting requirements. Not convicted of child or dependent adult abuse, a felony, other work related crimes, and no Medicaid/Medicare sanctions. Certify in CPR, First Aid, and CPI. Pass background checks. Communicate respectfully and effectively with supervisors, peers, clients, and IDT members. Valid driver's license, with driving record meeting Inspiring Lives/PVMI Insurance requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Some post secondary education in business related field preferred. Bachelors in business field (with emphasis in HR, preferred). Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) Certification preferred. 2 years HR related experience required. Healthcare setting HR experience preferred. While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with clients. The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position, operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend as necessary. Visual acuity is required to perform computer work. The position requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Pay:
$20.00 - $28.00 per hour
