(IN-HR-IUINA) Department Information Indiana University (IU) - Indianapolis Campus Human Resources is comprised of 30 plus human resources professionals. We work in conjunction with campus leadership and IU Human Resources to serve academic and/or administrative units on the IU Indianapolis Campus. Job Summary Department-Specific Responsibilities Provides wide-ranging, high-level support to the HR team, including, but not limited to, maintaining files and records, providing administrative support and processing transactions, directing questions to the right parties. Acts as the liaison between the HR team, employees, departments and external customers ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of all queries. Ensures the smooth functioning of HR processes and provides excellent service to university staff and faculty. Handles a range of responsibilities, including recruitment support, employee onboarding, record maintenance, and compliance with university policies and procedures. Handles some level of emerging exempt HR responsibilities. May lead or oversee hourly staff or lower-level appointed staff and may also provide guidance and mentoring to intermediate level coordinators. General Responsibilities Coordinates, processes, verifies, and maintains academic and/or staff HR related work, which may include but not limited to: recruitment, training, benefits, employee relations, tenure, performance evaluations, classifications, I-9s and employee leaves of absences. Researches and analyzes academic and/or staff HR related topics to help assist in resolving issues and/or creating solutions. Creates, compiles, prepares, and analyzes reports and documents for academic and/or staff HR related activities. Performs and may coordinate data entry for processing transactions and maintaining and keeping information current for candidates, employees and/or retirees on a variety of academic and/or staff HR issues. Provides administrative and related support to other academic and/or staff HR staff. Supports and maintains academic and/or staff HR programs and events; maintains up-to-date records of actions, decisions, and time frames. Maintains high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and documents. Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION
Required High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required 3 years of HR related experience plus advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite products. SKILLS Required Demonstrates customer service skills. Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities. Friendly and service-oriented. Highly thorough and dependable. Demonstrates written communication skills. Experience utilizing Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize conflicting assignments and maintain focus on project completion. Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
