Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
: The Human Resources Specialist, Administration & Compliance provides administrative and secretarial support for the Human Resources Director. The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting HR operations with a strong focus on administration, compliance, employee records management, and timekeeping processes within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate maintenance of personnel data, compliance with federal and state employment regulations, and effective administration of employee programs and HR systems. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.AUTHORITY
All employees have the authority to stop operations/production for the following three reasons: 1) a quality defect, 2) an unsafe act, or 3) a health hazard.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer employee benefits programs including enrollments, status changes, qualifying life/work events, open enrollment, and employee communications. Manage 401(k) administration including enrollments, contribution changes, compliance coordination, and employee support. Process and maintain all employee status changes including hires, transfers, promotions, compensation updates, leaves, and terminations. Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Coordinate and administer employee bonus and incentive programs. Process and respond to Verification of Employment (VOE) requests. Administer wage garnishments, child support orders, levies, and related payroll deductions in compliance with applicable laws. Conduct HR audits and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company regulations, including recordkeeping requirements. Administer Leave of Absence (LOA) programs including FMLA, medical leave, personal leave, military leave, and related documentation tracking. Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding leave eligibility, benefits continuation, and return-to-work processes. Assists department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees. Utilize ADP systems for HR and workforce administration including: Timecard management Attendance point tracking Vacation administration Employee data maintenance Reporting and auditing Monitor attendance and timekeeping compliance according to company policies and collective guidelines where applicable. Support payroll preparation by ensuring accurate time and attendance records. Generate HR reports, metrics, and compliance documentation as needed. Partner with supervisors and management to ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures. Assist with onboarding and orientation processes for new hires. Support internal and external audits related to HR, payroll, benefits, and compliance. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive employee information. Assist with health and safety initiatives in collaboration with EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) teams. Assists with recognition or reward programs. Maintains Human Resource System records and compiles reports from database as needed. Effectively performs other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS
Experience, Competencies and Education Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience 3+ years of HR experience Strong knowledge of HR compliance, FMLA, LOA administration, wage garnishments, and benefits administration. Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS/payroll systems required. Knowledge of federal and state employment laws including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, COBRA, and HIPAA. Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism. Preferred Skills Experience supporting hourly manufacturing workforce populations. Experience with HR audits. Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices. Proficiency in HRIS software (e.g., ADP). Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
