Job Description

Assists in the coordination and implementation of athletic sports programs for the County's recreational services. Supports the delivery of youth and adult sports, wellness initiatives, and special events. Responsibilities include assisting with program scheduling, facility coordination, customer service, and administrative support. Work involves collaboration with community organizations, instructors, and volunteers. Work is performed under general supervision. Essential Job Functions Assists in developing, coordinating, and monitoring athletic sports programs, classes, leagues, events, and wellness activities. Supports coordination and setup of activities within the Recreation Division. Performs administrative and office duties, including preparation of reports, data entry, and use of Parks and Recreation software systems. Assists with maintaining records related to attendance, registrations, accounts, and program data. Supports financial processes such as fee collection, processing payments, and preparing instructor payments. Provides customer service by communicating with participants, parents, volunteers, and community organizations via phone, email, and in person. Assists in resolving routine issues and responding to inquiries and complaints. Supports the development and implementation of sports schedules for leagues and programs. Assists with assigning fields, gyms, and other facilities at County parks and school locations. Helps coordinate facility reservations and program registrations. Assists with recruitment and coordination of instructors, officials, and volunteers. Provides support in onboarding and tracking participation. Supports the background check process for coaches, instructors, and volunteers and ensures required documentation is completed in compliance with policies. Assists in monitoring youth sport provider organizations to ensure compliance with agreements, policies, and procedures. Supports marketing and outreach efforts by assisting with the creation of flyers, social media content, and program information for activity guides and promotional materials. Provides on-site support for programs, leagues, and special events, including evenings and weekends as needed. Attends staff meetings, trainings, and workshops related to sports programming and recreation services. Other Duties Performs related work as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.) Knowledge of-- Principles and practices of athletic sports and recreation programming. Ability to-- Plan, organize and lead athletic sports programs. Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community organizations. Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Deal effectively with the public. Provide quality customer service and handle routine issues professionally. Maintain accurate records and perform administrative tasks. Required Qualifications (

Education:
Associate's degree in recreation, sports management, or a related field.
Experience:
One (1) year of experience in recreation programming, sports operations, or a related field preferred. Experience working with youth or adult sports programs is desirable.
Licenses or Certificates:
Valid driver's license. CPR/First Aid/AED certification must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment.
Special Requirements:
Subject to background investigation. Operation of County owned vehicle.
Physical Demands:
Requires periods of standing and walking, both indoors and outdoors; bending, crouching, stooping, and reaching; lifting objects up to 40 pounds; and operation of standard office equipment.
Unusual Demands:
May be required to work evenings and weekends based on program needs.

Pay rate: $33.05 - $35.37 per hour; $60,151 - $64,373 annually Grade 722, full-time position, 35 hours per week Department of Parks and Recreation Position closing date: June 29, 2026
