The Prince George's County Police Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Human Resources Assistant 3P, grade P17 position, in the Police Personnel Division. About the Position This is the senior/lead performance level of paraprofessional human resources administrative work designed to assist professional level human resources analysts within the Police department. Work assignments require a comprehensive knowledge of Personnel Law; departmental rules, regulations, and ordinances; the ability to communicate well with others; and a high degree of independent judgment, action, and initiative. The incumbent treats all personal, personnel, and personnel-related matters as strictly confidential. The incumbent in this position is authorized to carry out those duties and responsibilities in accordance with the established performance standards and is subject to reporting and justifying task outcomes to those above him/her in the department's chain of command. The incumbent will be required to work occasional weekend assignments. About the Agency The Prince George's County Police Department is the fourth largest law enforcement agency in Maryland, providing a full range of law enforcement services to County residents and business owners. Their mission is to work in partnership with citizens of Prince George's County towards providing a safe environment and enhancing the quality of life. Today, the Prince George's County Police Department serves over 900,000 residents and has an authorized strength of 1800 officers and 300 civilians. Examples of Work Monitors and processes past performance appraisals for all sworn and civilian personnel. Assists with the processing of personnel actions (separations, promotions, transfers) using the automated personnel/payroll system. Provides ID cards and replacement ID cards to employees of the Police Department. Assists with the processing of acting pay requests. Completes Maryland Police & Correctional Training Commission Notice of Personnel Action forms for sworn employees. Prepares Request to Hire (RTH) packages for sworn and civilian positions. Completes hiring and position processing. Assists with the activities relating to the sworn promotional examination process. Receives visitors and telephone calls for the Police Personnel Division. Performs other assignments which may not be specifically in the position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with this class of work. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications listed below to be eligible for additional consideration: Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources/Personnel Management, Organizational Development, Business/Public Administration, Psychology, or closely related field One (1) year of experience providing technical human resources support in the areas of recruitment, classification and compensation, benefits administration, employee relations or pensions and investments Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered. Preferred Qualifications Considerable knowledge and skills in the Microsoft Office software including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; plus experience utilizing Human Resources Information Systems/applicant tracking systems (e.g., NEOGOV, SAP, etc.)

Upon selection, the candidate must (where applicable): Be willing to work Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 5:00 pm. Be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as operations necessitate. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency. Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties. Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings. Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31. A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse. Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren). If you are only adding the stepchildren or child(ren) of a same-sex spouse, you will need to submit a marriage certificate.
