The Human Resources Assistant is based in the Grand Rapids, Michigan office. The HR Assistant helps with the administrative duties of the day-to-day operations. The HR Assistant, together with the rest of the HR team, carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: HRIS, T&A, employee engagement, training and development, benefits, executive administration, and unemployment. The HR Assistant contributes to the accomplishment of Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain, enter and update employee data in HRIS and other database systems. Ensure that system records are accurately recorded and cross-checked Ensure that employee and HR files and records are maintained in accordance with the legal requirement and Company policies and procedures Assist with monthly and year-end reports regarding terminations, overtime, transfers, and new hires Assists with compliance for Federal, State and Local laws and regulations Process employment verification and unemployment responses May assist with reviewing resumes, scheduling and conducting interviews as needed Welcomes new employees to the organization by preparing internal communications Assists in benefit renewal strategies and implementation Provides secretarial support by entering, formatting, and printing information Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping human resource information confidential Maintains quality service by following organization standards Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Assists with various HR research projects and/or special projects Assists or prepares correspondence Assists with Payroll distribution, as needed Assist with employee recognition and engagement programs Review and submit HR related invoices to accounting Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree, preferred 1 - 3 years of administrative experience (Human Resources preferred) QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

May be required to sit for long periods of time. The infrequent light physical effort required.
