Why Join the Town of Mooresville An Employee Experience (Human Resources) internship with the Town of Mooresville provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional municipal environment. Interns work closely with experienced HR professionals and gain exposure to the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, records management, and employee support services. This internship is ideal for students seeking to build foundational human resources skills while learning how strategic people operations support a high-performing and service-oriented organization. Important Internship Dates This is a paid summer internship anticipated to run from the beginning of June through mid-August 2026, depending on academic semester dates. About the Role The Employee Experience Intern will support the Town's Employee Experience (Human Resources) team by assisting with daily operations, employee engagement efforts, and administrative HR functions. This role is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience in a fast-paced professional setting and is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related fields. This internship is ideal for students seeking to build foundational human resources skills while learning how strategic people operations support a high-performing and service-oriented organization. Through collaboration with departments across the Town, interns will gain valuable insight into how a municipality operates and how HR supports employees and organizational success at every level. Assist with records retention efforts, including organizing, reviewing, and ensuring proper maintenance and compliance of employee files in accordance with state and local guidelines. Support share drive clean-up projects by reviewing digital files, organizing folders, archiving outdated materials, and improving overall accessibility and efficiency of HR records. Review and follow up on ORBIT missing beneficiary reports, including contacting employees, scheduling meetings, and assisting employees with completing or updating beneficiary information. Prepare and assemble new hire orientation materials, including printing and organizing Employee Guidebooks for the 2026-2027 cycle to ensure readiness for onboarding sessions. Assist with application review and recruitment closeouts, including screening applications, organizing candidate materials, updating applicant tracking systems, and ensuring proper documentation of hiring processes. Provide support for onboarding and employee engagement initiatives, including coordinating logistics for orientation sessions and assisting with internal communications. Maintain accurate and confidential records while adhering to HR policies and best practices. Support the Employee Experience team with daily operations, special projects, and process improvement initiatives as assigned. Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with HR systems is a plus but not required. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
