: $22.00 - $25.00/Hour, Based on Experience
CIVIL SERVICE TITLE
(S) : Office Clerk II, III or IV (Competitive)
JOB DESCRIPTION
: The Benefits Clerk is primarily responsible for coordinating employee benefit offerings including counseling employees and retirees on benefit options and processing enrollments and payroll deductions. The Benefits Clerk works alongside a senior Benefits Clerk and reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources.
TYPICAL DUTIES
: Counsels new employees on benefits options available to their specific job position including presenting at new hire orientation and individual meetings as necessary Enters new employee insurance information in WinCap and assists employees with enrollment in Benefit Solver. Coordinates enrollment, salary and staff changes for medical, dental, and vision plans, including reviewing monthly billings and verifying enrollment accuracy. Processes tuition reimbursement for staff. Processes enrollments and payroll deductions for AFLAC fringe benefit plan and life insurance. Reconciles active employee and retiree health plan invoices monthly. Prepares benefit-related notices to staff and retirees via mailings and electronic delivery. Tracks and enters retiree health insurance payments. Files and assists with other end of year duties in the department. Covers reception desk as necessary. All other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
:
Experience:
Two years experience in benefit administration preferred Must possess or meet requirements for Civil Service title Office Clerk II, III or IV. Clerk II - High School diploma and 3 years full or part time or volunteer equivalent office clerical or secretarial experience; or an Associate's degree in Secretarial Science, Office Technology or a closely related field plus one (1) year of office clerical or secretarial experience. Clerk III - High School diploma and 2 years paid full-time or part-time or volunteer equivalent office clerical or secretarial experience; or an Associate's degree in Secretarial Science, Office Technology or a closely related field. Clerk IV - Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma.
