Job Description and Responsibilities Oregon Steel Mills is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to join their team in Portland, Oregon. This role is responsible for supporting the Human Resources team in all facets of human resources including: employee support, HR systems administration, payroll and timekeeping, onboarding, benefits, and hourly recruitment coordination. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and excel at delivering customer centric HR services to a diverse client group. First point of contact to employees for HR administration questions and concerns Manage the HR team inbox and route inquiries appropriately while maintaining confidentiality and service standards Maintain employee personnel files including training documentation, attendance records, and discipline tracking in accordance with legal and company requirements Support payroll and timekeeping administration including data entry, audits, corrections, and coordination with payroll stakeholders Support HR system transactions including compensation changes, one-time payments, job changes, and leave of absence / short-term disability entries Ensure data integrity across HR systems and support HR reporting Support onboarding and offboarding processes including offer documentation, pre-employment requirements, and new hire orientation logistics Provide administrative support for benefits enrollment, wellness programs, and employee questions related to benefit plans, referring complex matters as needed Support training coordination, employee meetings, and HR programs including scheduling and materials preparation Partner with internal departments, vendors, and external service providers to support HR programs and site activities Support hourly recruitment activities including creating and posting requisitions, scheduling interviews, supporting candidate communications, preparing offer documentation, and coordinating pre-employment steps Ensure recruitment processes are followed and executed consistently Assist with audits, compliance activities, and document preparation Complete ad hoc research and/or special projects as needed Requirements 2-3 years of Human Resources administrative experience HRIS and payroll system experience, Workday and Kronos preferred Demonstrated experience handling sensitive situations with a high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations Strong collaborator with the ability to work independently Proactive and flexible problem-solving skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.) Our total compensation package includes amazing benefits!
