Human Resources Recruiter/Generalist; Safety Coordinator

American Asphalt Paving Co in Shavertown, PA is seeking a talented, self-motivated and experienced Human Resources Recruiter/Generalist; Safety Coordinator to support our busy Human Resources department. Under the direction of the HR Manager, the successful candidate will: Recruit top-notch, high-quality candidates and own the recruitment process from posting ads, sourcing candidates, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, to new hire processing and onboarding. Requires strong communication and collaborative skills with hiring managers to ensure resumes are reviewed in a timely manner and positions are filled quickly. Source new avenues of recruiting and serve as a liaison with colleges and trade schools to develop applicant pools. Attend job fairs and other recruiting events. Conduct pre-employment assessments, reference and criminal background checks, background checks for construction clearances; licensing, medical card and other certification checks; pre-employment drug/alcohol testing; and FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse checks. Serve as a member of the Safety Committee and participate in monthly safety meetings. Assist in the development of promoting and fostering a culture of safety. Monitor safety systems and track JSA's. Analyze accidents to determine root causes and make recommendations on corrective measures. Work with internal staff to monitor accident cases and obtain backup documentation. Assist in setting up and maintaining employee personnel records and HR related information in Vista Viewpoint database and run reports for managers as needed. Track driver's licenses and medical cards and other HR related information. Provide a variety of administrative support functions for human resources and ensure that human resource files and records are maintained in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Prepare, compile and maintain new hire packets, and assist in the preparation of employee mailings for payroll, during benefits open enrollment and other mailings as needed. Provide support in administering safety, wellness and other company programs, initiatives and training. Assist in the review and updating of department policies and procedures. Answer employees' queries about HR-related issues. Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in human resources or business desirable. 2 to 3 years' experience in recruitment or talent acquisition. 4 to 6 years proven experience as an HR Generalist, HR Assistant or Administrative Assistant in an HR environment, or other HR related roles. Prior experience as a safety coordinator is a plus. The successful candidate will have a broad range of experience in human resource functions, including recruiting, maintaining HRIS databases, HR support roles, and employee engagement. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and HRIS databases. Effective verbal and written communication skills; and customer-oriented with a professional courtesy attitude. Demonstrates initiative, willingness to take on greater challenges, and excellent analytical and multi-tasking skills. Ability to handle highly sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
