Job Summary:
The HR Shared Services Specialist role at Ocean State Job Lot ("OSJL" and "Company") is responsible for performing a wide range of tasks related to the end-to-end associate lifecycle and for participating in the implementation of process improvements that enhance efficiency and the associate experience. This position is a highly responsive and customer-oriented Human Resources ("HR") professional who supports OSJL's associates, leaders, and other teams within the HR department to ensure that HR processes are efficient and effective.
Key Responsibilities:
Audit data within the Company's human capital management ("HCM") system to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal standards. Respond to and resolve HR inquiries from the Company's associates and leadership. Maintain knowledge and understanding of federal and multi-state employment laws and regulations. Serve as the primary point of contact for all initial state unemployment claims, ensuring accurate and timely submission of associate separation information. As necessary, attend unemployment hearings telephonically. Maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), job aids, and system training resources to standardize workflows across all core HR processes and HCM modules. Serve as a cross-functional partner to other departments within the Company by maintaining up-to-date repositories and producing records, data, and Company policy documentation. Ensure that the Company's Milestone and Years of Service Recognition Awards are delivered to associates accurately and timely. Act as first-tier support for all associate and leader requests, utilizing dedicated HR service tools to manage, troubleshoot, and route inquiries efficiently. Collaborate with the Learning & Development team in the identification of organizational training needs and the creation of a training roadmap.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required in lieu of experience. 2 or more years of professional HR experience is preferred.
SHRM - CP
certification is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills. Excellent time management skills, the ability to prioritize work accordingly in a timely manner. Ability to deal with interruptions while completing work within deadlines. Strong understanding of unemployment processing. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).
Work Environment:
Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard potential.
Hybrid work option:
Some work may be completed outside of the Company locations, with at least three (3) days a week in the Corporate Office. The role is responsible for setting up a professional and ergonomically safe work environment and to be available during working hours.
