Human Resources Assistant Town of Signal Mountain - 3.8 Signal Mountain, TN Job Details Full-time $21.94 - $24.57 an hour 4 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications FMLA Filing Workers' compensation insurance knowledge Administrative experience Human capital management Associate's degree Full Job Description Overview Join our dynamic team as a Human Resources Assistant, where you will perform all functions of human resources, including classification, compensation, recruitment, selection, training, communications, safety, and all functions required to maintain employee benefits.
Functional areas:
HRIS maintenance and reporting; state systems for employment, benefits administration and Workers' Compensation reporting. This position is under the supervision of the Finance Director. Responsibilities Assists Finance Director with personnel matters. Maintains confidentiality in all dealings administered by the Human Resources Department. Coordinates Family Medical Leave Process (FMLA) - Obtains information, processes forms, maintains files. Help administer employee benefits programs, including benefits enrollment, benefits administration, and processing workers' compensation claims. Prepares annual
OSHA/TOSHA
report. Support compliance with employment & labor laws and OSHA regulations. Provides back-up support to payroll clerk. Process daily cash receipts for deposits. Audits monthly benefit charges versus payroll actuals and prepares department related allocation spreadsheets. Prepares all health care, insurance and other benefits enrollment, changes, terminations, and additions. Prepares all retirement enrollments, changes, terminations, etc. Prepares and maintains employee personnel files and conducts new employee orientation and onboarding. Administers the worker's compensation program as it relates to claims, reports, and the annual worker compensation audit. Updating sheets in CANVA. Printing and Posting Jobs. Send out notices for Newly Hired Employees. Qualifications Proven experience in administrative roles within human resources or related fields; experience with HRIS systems. Strong knowledge of human capital management practices, employment law, FMLA regulations, and OSHA standards. Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly. Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of modern practices and policies of public personnel administration to be able to refine human resource activities. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities such as data collection, contracts administration, conflict management, and training support. Knowledge of risk management and safety practices to be able to train employees on safety issues; administer worker's compensation program and investigate accidents. Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, town ordinances, and state and federal laws, especially those pertaining to personnel and payroll processing. An associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school and 3+ years' experience and/or training in HR role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
