Job Description

Barbeque Wood Flavors LLC, a subsidiary of Duraflame, Inc., is part of a privately held organization known for trusted brands and high quality products; including America's #1 selling fire log brand. Our Ennis, Texas operation plays an important role in supporting our manufacturing and distribution teams, and we're seeking a Human Resources Administrator who enjoys being hands-on, people-focused, and closely connected to day-to-day plant operations. This role is ideal for an HR professional who values stable growth, strong working relationships, and being a trusted local resource for employees and leaders alike. The Human Resources Administrator is responsible for weekly payroll, personnel record keeping, recruiting and screening applicants, new employee orientation, conduct exit interviews, process monthly eligibility payments for all benefits, conduct labor market surveys, coordinate annual salary review process, compliance with federal and state employment laws, and monitor bulletin boards for legally required notices.
Major Duties:
Recruit, screen and interview applicants; process new hire documents including entering into human resources system; provide orientation of new employees; and maintain personnel records. Coordinate communication of human resources policies and ensure company-wide compliance; maintain and distribute policy manuals and employee handbooks; ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws, DOT; maintain and monitor company bulletin boards for legally required notices and company announcements. Monitor performance management system and follow up as necessary to ensure completion; review and file completed forms. Write position summaries for approval of the executive committee; administer and maintain job evaluation system; conduct periodic labor market surveys; coordinate annual salary review. Process health & welfare benefits enrollments: reconcile and process monthly eligibility payments; ensure COBRA letters and HIPPA certificates are issued by administrator; and assist employees in resolving problems with benefit coverage or claims. Distribute 401(k) Plan documents, communicate 401(k) enrollment periods and investment information; enroll employees in the plan; process 401(k) distributions, rollovers, and loan documents; maintain employee census for 401(k) audits and discrimination testing. Set up pre-employment physicals and drug screens. Arrange appointments for DOT random drug tests and physicals for DOT driver re-certification. Provide various other human resources functions, such as exit interviews, arranging supervisory and management training programs, process salary increases, etc. Administer the Drug & Alcohol Program in conjunction with the Distribution Manager. Assist in the administration of leave of absence programs including FMLA, military leave, personal leave, and applicable state leaves; track leave usage and ensure accurate documentation and compliance. Serve as a point of contact for employees and supervisors regarding leave questions, coordinating with corporate Human Resources. Process weekly payroll using Paychex.
Education/Experience:
HS required, but some college is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of practical human resources generalist experience. Some payroll processing experience using online systems. (Paychex experience preferred). Strong skills in the use of the Microsoft software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations and conflict calmly and professionally.
