04/12 Provo City is looking for a part-time Administrative Assistant to provide clerical support for the Human Resources department. This position involves assisting patrons at the front desk, by phone, or online as well as managing information, creating documents, and completing projects. Pay Rate:
$18.00 - $21.00 per hour (depending on qualifications) Part-time Provo City employees are eligible to receive the following great perks: a) free admission to the Provo Recreation Center, Peaks Ice Arena Public Skating, and Provo Shooting Sports Park; b) a free Provo City Library Card; c) a 25% discount on Provo Recreation Center memberships (direct family only); and d) discounts from various local and national vendors. What will I do? Answer office phones, assist in-person patrons, respond to questions, and/or route to proper authority. Prepare reports, forms, and other documents for submission or review. Input and retrieve data from computer systems including specialized Human Resource Information System. Manage files and records, including organizing and maintaining efficient filing processes. Handle information from reports and records, including highly confidential information. Assist with accounting responsibilities as needed, including handling vouchers, receipts, and expenditures. Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence. Make copies and operate general office equipment and machines. Support office staff as needed and perform other related duties as required. What requirements do I need to apply? Provo will honor equivalencies, substituting each two years of education for one year of related experience. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Two (2) years of clerical, administrative, or related office support experience. Preference given for front-line customer service experience and skill in Office Suite products. What is the schedule? Flexible between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. but must have availability from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 20 hours per week. Will be required to cover for full-time staff member during absences. Actual schedule to be discussed with supervisor. What are the physical and environmental factors? Requires frequent walking throughout office, carrying of items, and standing or sitting at a counter, desk, and/or computer for long time periods of time. Work is inside with little or no occupational hazards present. May include exposure to high-stress situations or environments, including repeated interruptions during work, handling of intensely confidential information, and contact with the public in confrontational or uncomfortable circumstances. What is the selection process? Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on April 13, 2026. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration. If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months. Why Provo City?
