Human Resources Operations Manager About the job We are seeking a Human Resources Operations Manager for a 185 person Asset Management firm headquartered in Norwalk, CT. The current incumbent is retiring after 25 years with us. This is a 3 person team that manages HR and Facilities for our offices and reports to the CHRO. This role is based in our Norwalk, CT office and is currently hybrid, 3-4 days in the office. To learn more about Commonfund, go to our website at www.commonfund.org/careers Position Responsibilities We are seeking candidates that are proactive, disciplined, and solutions-driven to manage and execute the day-to-day human resources operations. This role requires prioritization skills, a strong knowledge of HR policies and laws, excellent judgment, and the ability to bring structure, clarity, and follow-through to all our HR processes and procedures. The ideal candidate can anticipate needs, connects dots across initiatives, and independently drives work to completion. We work collaboratively within the 3-person HR team to support the firm on the following: Human Resources Operations Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee questions related to policies, benefits, payroll, and workplace concerns. Coordinate and administer performance review processes, ensuring deadlines, documentation, and follow-through are met. Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and offboarding. Draft, update, and manage HR documentation including offer letters, job descriptions, disciplinary documentation, employee communications, and handbook updates. Support employee relations matters, investigations, and corrective actions with discretion, professionalism, and consistency. Explore and implement AI tools and HR technology solutions to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and improve the employee experience, and use data analytics to track and report on key HR metrics. Recruiting & Onboarding Manage recruiting efforts including job postings, resume screening, interview coordination, and candidate communication. Own the onboarding process to ensure new hires are fully prepared, compliant, and productive from day one. Manage offboarding processes, including documentation, benefits transitions, and coordination of final pay. Benefits & Payroll Administration Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and employee education, in coordination with external vendors. Serve as liaison with payroll and benefits providers, ensuring accuracy, responsiveness, and timely processing. Facilities Oversee day-to-day office operations including maintenance, repairs, and vendor coordination for the Norwalk headquarters. Manage relationships with building management, cleaning services, security, and other facility vendors. Coordinate office supplies, equipment procurement, and inventory management. Plan and execute office space management including workspace assignments, moves, and reconfigurations. Ensure workplace safety and compliance with building codes, fire safety, and emergency preparedness protocols. Qualifications 7-10 years of progressive experience in an HR Generalist or similar role. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, shifting demands with confidence and judgment. Strong working knowledge of HR best practices and employment law compliance. Exceptional organizational skills with a track record of independent execution. Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills. High level of professionalism, discretion, and accountability. Hands-on, ability to solve problems and get things done. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ADP payroll system experience preferred. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Experience working in a small or mid-sized organization.
