Job Description

Job Title:
​​Director of Student Wellness, Access & Inclusion ​ Division ​​Student Affairs & Enrollment Management​ Reports To ​​Associate Vice President of Student Success and Engagement​ Status ​​Full-Time​
GENERAL SUMMARY
​ The Director will serve as the point of contact for Disability Services, a Liaison for our Virtual Care Group Telehealth services, The Tiger Food Pantry, Student Resources and on-call emergencies. The Director will provide accommodations and support of students with disabilities providing overall leadership, planning and supervision for the disability support function. This includes directing and implementing reasonable accommodations and services for students with disabilities under the mandates of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (as amended) and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (as amended). The Director will assess student needs and resources on an annual basis to include current and new services and make appropriate and data driven recommendations.
  • The Director will provide oversight and supervision for initial consultation, diagnostic interviewing, brief counseling or psychotherapy, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and management of psychiatric emergencies in collaboration with the Virtual Care Group telehealth. The Director will serve on-call responsibility for student emergencies
  • The Director will be responsible for designing and managing the data information system, directing and evaluating program activities, developing disability awareness curricula for faculty and staff, supervising professional and support staff, if applicable, maintaining a caseload of students and collaborating with all areas of the college.
  • The Director will interpret psychological and psychoeducational assessment instruments and proficiency in writing interpretive reports of assessment are required.
  • The Director will assist with academic advisement of new, transfer, and first and second year students.
  • The Director will participate in New Student Orientation and serve as a mentor to students as a representative of the Division of Student Success and Engagement team and University College. The Director will oversee the Tiger Pantry.
  • The Director will contribute to the overall retention of students.
  • The Director will perform other duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for overall delivery of counseling services in collaboration with the Virtual Care Group and programming to the university community. Promotes the personal development and psychological well-being of students by overseeing counseling services for individual, couple, or group basis. Ensures that the need of students are addressed in emergency situations by overseeing the coordination and/or crisis intervention services during office hours and after hours as needed. Maintain a caseload of students with disabilities and provide approval/denial for accommodations. Collect documentation during student intake interviews. Develop and disseminate accommodation letters to faculty and designated individuals. Provide support and accessibility services to individual students with disabilities. Maintain accurate records in a confidential manner in keeping with FERPA and ADA requirements. Collaborate with Admissions and meet with prospective students and their parents. Collaborate with other Edward Waters staff for tutoring, study strategies, accountability support and accommodations for students as needed. Consult individually with faculty as they implement accommodations and support students with varying needs. Monitor the alignment of Edward Waters University's policies and practices with best practices. Ensures office effectiveness by handling office correspondence. Compiles reports weekly cabinet reports, statistics for board/annual reports and other reporting requirements. Provides input to other areas of the University by serving on committees. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student workers required for direct assistance to students with disabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Higher Education Administration or another relevant field Coursework in pedagogy or instructional design. 2-3 years of college-or-university level experience working with underserved students and students with disabilities. Demonstrated evidence of commitment to student success and self-advocacy. Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
