Primary Responsibilities:
Manage all functions associated with employee certification for the Division of Human Resources by adhering to the state of Georgia bylaws regarding certification requirements, policies, and procedures. Manage the in-field (ESSA/Professionally Qualified) database along with the Federal Programs Manager, Data Reporting and other responsible departments, through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) and advise human resources directors.

Work with GCPS Data Reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance for CPI reporting.

Track newly hired educators to assist with acquiring all aspects of Georgia certification.

Review ePAR forms to determine if educator has appropriate in-field and professionally qualified status for assignment.

Provide consultation to principals, division, and department heads regarding certification.

Maintain regular contact with customers and stakeholders to ensure appropriate and essential communication. Communicate through articles in Principal Matters.

Create presentations for quarterly Administrative Assistant meetings.

Update information on GCPS websites and personnel handbooks.

Update the Certification Resource Guide. Handle all customer inquiries pertaining to certification and determine appropriate course of action.

Ensure that all certificate data is accurate and complete and continually look for opportunities for process improvements.

Maintain current applications and testing information from the GaPSC and the Georgia Assessment for the Certification of Educators (GACE).Serve as the GCPS liaison to the GaPSC and the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification (NASDTEC).Attend New Employee On-Boarding to facilitate the certification application process and answer newly hired educators\' questions.

Work with Teach Gwinnett to support the referral and completion of the certification program for educators on Induction 4 certificates.

Track certification compliance through the Certification Compliance Plans sent to school principals: Track program completion for educators and administratorsTrack educator\'s completion of testing requirements to achieve professionally qualified status.

Maintain documentation of compliance for contract renewal purposes. Track and report educators receiving Unsatisfactory evaluations in compliance with GaPSC rules and remediate evaluations accordingly within the GaPSC deadline.

Supervise and evaluate assigned staff.

Provide ongoing cross-training and maintain a succession plan for the unit.
