We are approximately 400 Employee Owners strong, with a significant growth strategy for the near future. The Role The Director of Human Resources leads Team Kline's full people function during a period of significant and intentional growth. This is a strategic and operational leadership role that partners directly with the COO and senior leadership to create a credible and trusted people operations team while also building the necessary infrastructure, culture, and team capability the organization needs to scale. It requires both the ability to see out into the future and plan forward while also having the discipline to execute day-to-day HR operations across a complex, field-heavy, multi-state workforce. What You'll Lead People strategy, workforce planning, and HR metrics HR team leadership and development Talent acquisition and employer brand Employee relations and performance management Compensation, benefits, and total rewards Multi-state compliance and risk management Manager and leadership development; Team Kline University Safety program oversight and workers' compensation HR systems, operations, and process improvement Skills and Competencies We are looking for demonstrated strength across the following: Strategic Thinking — ability to translate long-horizon business goals into structured people plans, balancing vision with near-term execution Team Leadership — build, develop, and hold accountable a team of HR professionals; modeling high standards and delegating effectively Influence and Partnership — engage with senior leaders and operational managers to make aligned people decisions Change Leadership — lead organizational change with structure and stakeholder engagement, managing resistance and building adoption Employment Law Compliance — ability to apply multi-state employment law requirements across HR and the business Employee Relations — navigate complex workplace situations with sound judgment, fairness, and consistency Communication — must be able to communicate clearly and credibly in written and verbal formats, adapting style for the audience Experience and Credentials 8+ years of progressive HR experience across multiple functions; must demonstrate expertise in multiple HR competency areas 5+ years of experience in leading others Multi-state, multi-location environment required; trades, construction, or field workforce strongly preferred Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification strongly preferred Team Kline is an equal opportunity employer.
