Covington, Louisiana (on site / hybrid) Position Summary The Director of Human Resources delivers strategic vision and operational oversight to drive performance, innovation, and compliance across LOPA. This role directly manages core HR functions—including payroll governance, compensation, benefits, leave management, and employee relations—while also steering the Administrative Services and Hospitality departments. The ideal candidate successfully balances regulatory compliance and operational efficiency with organizational growth and a high-quality employee experience. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, the Director fosters a culture of accountability, service excellence, and operational integrity.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership:
Provides vision and direction for Human Resources operations and total rewards strategy aligned with LOPA's mission and organizational goals. Partners with executive leadership to strengthen organizational effectiveness through compliant, sustainable, and employee-centered HR practices.
Compensation, Benefits & Leave Administration:
Leads the design, administration, and evaluation of compensation programs, benefits offerings, leave administration, and related employee support programs. Ensures programs remain competitive, fiscally responsible, and aligned with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
Payroll & HR Operations:
Oversees payroll administration and HR operational processes to ensure accuracy, consistency, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Monitors HR systems, reporting, recordkeeping, audits, safety and internal controls to support operational excellence.
Compliance & Employee Relations:
Ensures organizational compliance with multi-state employment laws, wage and hour regulations, leave laws, policies, and accreditation standards. Provides guidance and leadership related to employee relations matters, policy interpretation, workplace investigations, corrective actions, and risk mitigation.
Organizational Support & Culture:
Partners with leadership to support employee engagement, change management initiatives, leadership development, and workplace culture that promote accountability, inclusion, and organizational alignment.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Serves as a strategic HR representative in executive and board-level discussions, fostering collaboration, transparency, and trusted relationships across departments and external partners.
Additional Responsibilities:
Supports 24/7 operational readiness, participates in strategic planning activities, ensures compliance with required training and documentation, and performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Qualifications & Competencies Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required or equivalent education and/or experience required. Master's degree strongly preferred. Professional certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or
SHRM-SCP
preferred. 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources. Strategic thinker with proven experience providing operational and budgetary oversight, alongside the ability to build scalable HR infrastructure. Demonstrated success leading organizational change management, driving workplace culture, and boosting employee engagement initiatives. Skilled communicator and consensus-builder with executive presence, particularly adept at navigating healthcare or emotionally sensitive environments. Strong analytical capability with experience translating complex workforce data and metrics into executive-level insights and actionable recommendations. Comprehensive knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws, payroll compliance, tax regulations, and deferred compensation governance. Proven experience managing workers' compensation administration, OSHA compliance, and workplace safety initiatives. Demonstrated capability managing operations in multi-state environments, with a strong preference for experience leading administrative services or hospitality functions. Exceptional conflict resolution, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills to navigate complex employee relations and operational challenges. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and related organizational tools. Committed to ethical leadership, continuous improvement, and inclusive culture-building. Work Environment & Expectations Full-time, salaried position (Mon-Fri, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM), with flexibility as needed May require after-hours availability and occasional travel Office and clinical environments; occasional exposure to clinical materials
