SUMMARY AND DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE WORK
: Inclusion support at Greenbelt Recreation camps aims to ensure that all campers feel valued and included regardless of their abilities, backgrounds, or differences. This is achieved by providing reasonable accommodation and extra support tailored to the individual needs of campers, which ultimately enhances their overall camp experience. The Inclusion Manager oversees the implementation of inclusion services at Greenbelt Recreation camps, ensuring that all campers feel valued and supported regardless of their abilities, backgrounds, or differences. This position supervises inclusion staff, provides leadership during camp programs, and collaborates with the Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Coordinator to develop and implement strategies that promote equity, accessibility, and a sense of belonging for all participants.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Pre-Camp (May-early June) Collaborate with the Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Coordinator to develop an inclusion training plan. Assist in planning and implementation of staff training sessions. Research and present on topics related to inclusion or youth development. Participate in pre-camp preparation and orientation. During Camp (June-August) Assist in the development of individual support strategies for campers. Supervise, mentor, and support inclusion counselors in daily responsibilities. Provide direct support to campers with disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, physical disabilities, cognitive differences, and behavioral challenges. Address camper behavior concerns in collaboration with counselors and leadership staff. Address behavioral concerns in collaboration with counselors and leadership staff. Maintain communication with parents/guardians, regarding camper experiences and concerns. Lead weekly meetings with inclusion staff. Maintain accurate program documentation (incident reports, attendance logs, accommodation notes, etc.). Ensure camper safety by following all emergency procedures and safety protocols. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education and Experience:
Must be at least 18 years old or a high school graduate. Experience in youth programs, camps, recreation, education, social services, or a related field preferred. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to lead, plan, and adapt programming in dynamic environments. Experience working with children with disabilities preferred. Unlimited positive energy and ability to build and work as a cohesive team. Good role model, high integrity, and adaptable. Must be available to assist with pre-camp preparation (May-June). Must be available for the mandatory pre-camp staff orientation (dates TBD). Must be available the entire camp season (Monday-Friday, June 15 - August 14, 2026) between the hours of 7 am - 6 pm.
DESIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
CPR/AED First Aid Certification or willingness to become certified.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Champions inclusion activities, strategies, and initiatives. Empathetically listens and communicates for understanding when negotiating and dealing with conflict. Positive behavior management techniques. Department organization, standard operating guidelines and policies, rules, and regulations.
Skill in:
Staff management Time management Written and verbal communication Program planning and organization
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Ability to lead and supervise others. Ability to work without close supervision. Ability to maintain positive, effective working relationships with colleagues and parents. Good listening skills and a creative, solution-oriented mindset. Ability to provide effective one-on-one assistance to camp participants and teachers. Steady leadership combined with adaptability. Readiness to adjust planned activities as needed based on factors such as staff absences and inclement weather. Ability to communicate promptly by email, text, and/or phone.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Inclusion staff maintain an active schedule, accompanying and helping to mentor a group of camp participants throughout the busy camp day. Inclusion staff support all Greenbelt Recreation camp participants. Assignments will vary between the Youth Center, Community Center and Springhill Lake Recreation Center with occasional off-site support during field trips.
