Job Description

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for providing a high level of HR support and service to all employees while ensuring the company's compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. This position partners with management to develop and manage their teams, promoting an environment of productivity, engagement, and job satisfaction. The HR Manager also oversees HR staff, leads labor relations efforts, provides support for operations, and ensures consistent application of company policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for recruitment, retention, company culture. employment law compliance, labor relations issues, benefits administration, government compliance programs, and workers compensation. The HR Manager will also supervise the Human Resources Coordinator and Generalist, manage the plant attendance program, track and compose employee write ups, handle day-to-day union business, and assist with employee relations and disciplinary matters as needed.
DUTIES:
1. Oversee recruiting and retaining high-quality employees. 2. Ensure company compliance with FMLA, ADA, Form 5500 filings, I-9 requirements, and other employment regulations and associated reporting requirements. 3. Compose all disciplinary issuances for employees, up to and including termination. 4. Monitor the company's attendance program. 5. Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures. 6. Ensure compliance with the current collective bargaining agreement. Work to prevent and resolve grievances while promoting a positive work environment for all employees. 7. Provide training to employees on company policies, employment laws, and other HR-related topics as needed. 8. Engage in community events and collaborate with the Chamber of Commerce to strengthen community and business relationships. 9. Monitor the workers' compensation program to ensure compliance and effective case management. 10. Ensure benefit programs are administered accurately, timely, and efficiently. 11. Coach, mentor, and encourage the professional growth and development of HR staff. 12. Communicate effectively via telephone, email, and in person with internal and external stakeholders. 13. Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is an onsite position. Must have strong computer and word processing skills. Requires the ability to work with other departments and maintain a good rapport with other staff members. Must be able to adapt to any situation as it happens. Must be detail oriented. Must maintain confidentiality of all matters. Three (3) to five (5) years of generalist experience in Human Resources and a bachelor's degree, at minimum, in business or related field are required. Must be able to communicate in English clearly in both verbal and written form. Must be able to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
