Position Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Director of Diversity for the Associated Students of Oregon State University (ASOSU) at Oregon State University (OSU). The ASOSU Director of Diversity serves on the ASOSU President's Diversity Team to support development among student leadership, and at the university, of the values of diversity and inclusion. The Diversity Director helps to ensure ASOSU fulfills its mission of representing all students at Oregon State University by working to build relationships with student groups andanizations representing a multitude of backgrounds and life experiences. These efforts include collaborating with ASOSU Executive Staff and student leaders on ASOSU's ongoing advocacy, with a focus on identifying and addressing inequities, buildingmunity belonging, and helping acknowledge the necessary steps to ensure equal access to important resources. This role will directly supervise the members of the ASOSU Diversity Team. Given the limited hours and timeline of ASOSU's advocacy, these responsibilities (including those provided below) may be amended or vary depending on ongoing priorities, needs, or emergent issues and/or circumstances. The ASOSU Director of Diversity will work closely with the ASOSU President and Vice President to fulfill the program needs of the ASOSU Executive Staff. Thepetencies students develop while working at OSU are defined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) as the essential skills employers seek in their hires. In this position, students learn and build vital career-readiness skills in the primary areas below: Communication, Leadership, and Equity & Inclusion. Position Duties Collaborate with the student government, University stakeholders, and campusanizations on issues and advocacy pertaining to institutional diversity and inclusion;
Maintain productive relationships between the student government and Cultural Resource Centers, University resource institutions, and student culturalanizations;
Communicate ASOSU's interest and keep up to date with programs, groups, and resources pertaining to diversity and inclusion on campus and in the broadermunity;
Work collaboratively with the Policy Team tasked to ensure the values of diversity and inclusion are upheld as part of local and legislative policy advocacy, as well as University policy;
Serve as a point of contact for interfaith or religious/spiritual student affinity groups andanizations;
Work collaboratively with executive staff tasked with addressing issues of diversity and inclusion, and address these matters as a part of broader advocacy efforts;
Assist staff within the Diversity Team on developing initiatives to address concerns of their respective advocacy areas.
Facilitate regular meetings with the Diversity Team;
Meet regularly one-on-one with members of the Diversity Team;
Attend regular all-executive staff and meetings;
Assist the Chief of Staff by providing relevant input during expenditure processes;
Provide a report to the ASOSU Senate at least once per term;
Meet regularly with the ASOSU President and Vice President;
Attend and successfullyplete all required training sessions, including in-person sessions, online training and make-up assignments related to training;
Other duties as assigned. 9 credit hours per term. Must be a Corvallis campus-based student. Maintenance of good academic and conduct standing and a cumulative and prior term 2.0 GPA. Commitment to promoting and advancing diversity and creating an atmosp of inclusion for all students andmunity members. Communication skills in areas including but not limited to interpersonal, public speaking, digital, verbal, and writtenmunications. Organizational skills, including managing time and working accurately with interruptions to meet a deadline; delegating tasks, when applicable. Working well under pressure, exercising flexibility, initiative, good judgment, and discretion. Preferred (Special) Qualifications Willingness to be adaptable, to accept changes and try new things. Ability to work independently as well as in a team. Bilingual Experience or knowledge working with ASOSU, or otheranizations focusing on student advocacy, campus involvement, diversity and inclusion, or other related areas. Stronganizational skills and ability to delegate tasks. Experience or knowledge in leading and directing individuals. Experience or knowledge with project management and coordinating teams. This position is allotted approximately 24 hours (clocked) per week during the academic year. Some weeks may require additional hours while others require less. Hours must balance out during the pay period and may not exceed 24 hours within a given week per university policy. Additional hours may be available with supervisor approval.Compensation:
Thepensation for this position is $18.65 an hour.Training:
