120 About the Role The Susquehanna Valley Makerspace Collaborative partners with a diverse network of funded community organizations to bring STEAM programming to life across five counties. This supervisor will lead a two-person undergraduate intern team in deep, community-embedded research: visiting 10-15 funded partner organizations, conducting structured surveys and interviews, and collecting both qualitative and quantitative data on programs supported to date. The team will synthesize findings into formal grant reports and compelling storytelling outputs that illuminate the real impact of this work—for ARC, for stakeholders, and for the communities served. This role sits at the heart of DegenSTEAM's Exemplify pillar: learning through and about the people making change happen. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and provide structured weekly feedback to two undergraduate student interns
- Orient interns to the Susquehanna Valley Makerspace Collaborative's funded partner network, grant objectives, and data collection protocols
- Coordinate and accompany the team on site visits to 10-15 funded partner organizations, which may include Bloomsburg Children's Museum, Lewisburg Children's Museum, Susquehanna Kids, Snyder County 4-H, The Improved Milton Experience, MYNDDSET, Regional Engagement Center, local Libraries, and others
- Oversee the design, piloting, and administration of surveys and interview guides aligned with grant reporting needs
- Guide interns in accurately recording, organizing, and verifying qualitative and quantitative data
- Supervise synthesis of collected data into two deliverable types: (1) formal reports for ARC grant reporting and stakeholder review, and (2) storytelling content—partner profiles, community narratives, or case studies
- Maintain supervisor and intern timesheets, progress logs, and documentation supporting ARC progress reports and final report

- Completed data collection from 10-15 partner site visits (surveys, interviews, observational notes)
- Organized dataset combining qualitative and quantitative findings
- At least one formal summary report suitable for ARC grant reporting and stakeholder presentations
- Storytelling outputs: partner profiles, community impact narratives, or case studies for DegenSTEAM communications
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, community development, graphic design, communications, education, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience
- Experience supervising or managing others (students, volunteers, or staff)
- Demonstrated experience conducting qualitative research: interviews, focus groups, surveys, or site visits
- Strong writing skills; demonstrated ability to produce reports, summaries, or narrative content for varied audiences
- Ability to build rapport quickly across diverse community organizations; culturally responsive communicator
Preferred:
- Prior experience working in or with the nonprofit sector in the Susquehanna Valley region
- Familiarity with grant reporting, program evaluation, or collective impact frameworks
- Experience creating storytelling content: case studies, digital reports, social media content, community profiles, or data narratives
Compensation & Schedule Rate:
$25.00/hour

Travel:
Reimbursed at federal rate; site visits required across 5-county region
Schedule:
Flexible; must be available for partner site visits scheduled in advance; regular intern check-ins and leadership meetings required
