Overview:
Position Overview The HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic and hands-on partner to leaders and employees at unionized locations. This role balances strong labor relations expertise with general HR business partnership, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), labor laws, and company policies while supporting operational goals. The HRBP acts as a trusted advisor to management and a fair, consistent resource for employees.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities Labor & Union Relations Serve as the primary HR contact for unionized locations, maintaining productive relationships with union representatives and stewards Interpret, administer, and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) Lead or support grievance investigations, responses, and resolutions in partnership with management and legal counsel Prepare for and participate in labor negotiations, including data analysis, proposal development, and bargaining sessions Advise leaders on contract administration, past practice, and labor risk mitigation Monitor labor trends, arbitration outcomes, and changes in labor law impacting union environments HR Business Partnership Partner with site and regional leaders to align HR strategy with business and operational goals Provide guidance on employee relations issues, performance management, corrective action, and investigations Coach leaders on effective people management within a unionized framework Support organizational change initiatives, workforce planning, and restructuring efforts Compliance & Employee Relations Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws (e.g., NLRA, FLSA, ADA, FMLA) Conduct workplace investigations related to misconduct, policy violations, or contract issues Promote a fair, consistent, and respectful workplace culture Support conflict resolution and proactive employee engagement strategies HR Programs & Processes Partner with HR Teams (Talent, Compensation, Benefits, L&D) to deploy HR programs in union environments Support compensation, job evaluations, and classification reviews as they relate to CBAs Assist with onboarding and training for leaders on labor relations and union protocols Analyze HR and labor metrics (turnover, grievances, absenteeism, discipline trends) to inform decisions Miscellaneous Support our values in the stand areas of Safety, Customer Focus, Teamwork, Integrity and being a Company of Choice for both employees and customers Other duties as assigned Qualifications Previous experience as a Human Resource Specialist, 10+ years Experience with Union employees and CBA's Any combination of education and experience related to college level work or experience in Human Resources Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and intermediate advanced knowledge of Excel in creating spreadsheets and database management tools Exemplary customer service, organization skills and able to multitask Exemplary written and verbal communication skills Experience with preparation and distribution of system wide communication on HR related topic
Compensation and Benefits:
Reports To Vice President of Human Resources Compensation The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position; actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and cost of living in the assigned market. This is a full-time position with competitive pay an d benefits.
Base:
$80,000 - $115,000 per year
Bonus:
20% Target Bonus Total Compensation (Base + Bonus): The successful candidate could reasonably expect a Total Compensation Package in the range of $96,000- $138,000.
