Job Description

We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner with a strong track record in wage and hour compliance and broad, hands-on expertise across core HR disciplines, including employee relations, performance management, employment regulations, leaves of absence, and workplace accommodations. This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys consulting, confidently applies HR best practices, and is comfortable supporting a diverse client base across multiple industries, states, organizational sizes and structures, and HRIS environments.
Our Clients' HR Landscape:
Employers with 10 - 500 employees manage complex, high‑stakes HR demands—Employee Relations, Wage & Hour compliance, Leaves of Absence and ADA accommodations, Workers' Compensation, Payroll, and more. No single internal resource can expertly handle it all, which often results in fragmented processes, unclear responsibilities, and reactive decisions. Employer's Guardian provides a structured, proactive alternative. We combine modern HR philosophies, proven practices, and enabling technology to improve performance and reduce risk. We help turn chaotic HR activity into a coordinated, efficient operation, strengthening leadership effectiveness and creating more stable workplaces. We serve a diverse client base across 30+ states, including healthcare, home improvement, and manufacturing, offering HR career that is both meaningful and professionally engaging.
Position Summary:
As an HR Business Partner with Employer's Guardian, you become the dedicated HR ally for our clients—combining the insight of a consultant, the guidance of a mentor, and the discipline of a risk gatekeeper. You will work closely with business owners and managers in small to mid-size organizations, helping them strengthen their management skills while protecting their organizations from employer-related risk. By learning each client's unique business model, leadership style, and operating realities, you move beyond transactional support to build trusted, long-term relationships—positioning Employer's Guardian as an indispensable partner.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Employer Liability Consulting - Identifies areas of employer liability and interprets complex regulations into clear, practical guidance. Partners with clients to design and implement policies that reduce exposure in high‑risk areas such as discrimination, wage and hour, and employment separations. Proactively educates leaders on evolving local, state, and federal requirements and provides risk analysis on employment decisions so organizations can act confidently and stay ahead of compliance demands. Wage and Hour Compliance - Collaborates with clients to ensure pay practices are reviewed, researched, and in compliance with federal and state regulations. Provides clear, practical guidance on compliance and designs strategic pay plans, including complex bonus, commission, and piece‑rate compensation arrangements. Conducts regular audits for wage and hour compliance, identifies compliance risks, and recommends changes. Partners with the EG Payroll team to implement compliant pay plans and time‑off accrual policies in the payroll platform. Legal Defense Preparation - Researches, reviews, and prepares responses to claims involving discrimination and wage and hour issues in close collaboration with clients. Provides preliminary risk assessments that help clients stay confident and in control of each deliverable, while partnering with internal teams, external partners, and legal counsel as appropriate. Drafts defense briefs that are organized, factual, and aligned with each client's risk‑management strategy. Performance Management - Supports clients in addressing performance concerns by developing Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) that focus on changing behavior, strengthening documentation, managing UI exposure, and reducing litigation risk. Advises leaders on disciplinary actions and employment separations, and prepares clear, compliant documentation that protects the organization while treating employees with fairness and respect. Employee Relations - Identifies employee relations trends and root causes, and recommends practical solutions using a consultative approach. Guides clients on handling employee issues and investigations, including documentation, interview questions, communication templates, reports, and follow‑up plans. Provides mentoring on managing escalated matters and applies working knowledge of employment and discrimination laws to minimize legal risk. HR Infrastructure Management - Supports new client HR setup and ongoing maintenance by creating and updating handbook policies, job descriptions, and employment correspondence that align with each organization's needs and compliance requirements. Guides HRIS implementation and delivers practical training so clients can confidently manage their HR operations day to day. Internal Team Support - Effectively steps in as a lead and reliable backup for teammates across a wide range of HR service deliverables—from responding to claims filed with government agencies, managing records requests, to coordinating LOA/ADA accommodations and UI claims management, so that clients experience seamless, consistent support.
