Job Description

The HR Manager's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing the recruiting, onboarding, and exiting of employees; facilitating employee benefits enrollment; and assisting in the investigation of employee complaints. This individual is also responsible for assisting in the planning and administration of training, inclusive of compliance, policy and procedure, and manager training. LSCO's HR Manager contributes to the mission and development of employees as a model for professional competency and efficiency and constantly works to improve processes and procedures to further enhance the employee experience. This is an exempt position. Manages the daily operations of LSCO's HR department and serves as the supervisor for the HR Generalist and HR Specialist Manages LSCO's applicant tracking system by screening applicants, and dispositioning accordingly; also performs site administrator duties such as organizational and template maintenance Monitors pool of applicants and partners with hiring managers to ensure an appropriate source is available Recommends external job advertisement and places ads accordingly Independently screens, scores, and recommends qualified candidates for interviews Conducts pre-employment screening, such as background and reference checks Verifies hiring packets, prepares and extends official job offers, letters and other required documents to final candidate Conducts new employee orientations Intakes employee complaints and investigates accordingly with guidance from the HR Executive Director; partners with the HR Executive Director to develop and administer resolution Guides managers on handling employee relations and disciplinary issues Assists employees planning for retirement Handles the exit process for employees who leave employment with LSCO Leads projects within HR to enhance employee productivity, performance and experience Review and edit LSCO policies, as needed, to submit for HR Executive Director and VP approval Assists in the planning of training events May assist the HR Executive Director with some state reporting, such as FTE reporting; and ensures other departmental reporting is completed and accurate Performs entry and maintenance functions in the college's Banner ERP system, as needed to backfill
HR Specialist Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in human resources or similar Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated work experience within the HR field Excellent customer service, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including presentations Able to interact with all levels of faculty and staff diplomatically with professional discretion and confidentiality and high ethical standards. Must take initiative and be innovative; comfortable operating independently and as a team and oftentimes with minimal direct oversight Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Forms, etc.) Must be detail-oriented and deadline conscientious
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree HR certification(s), along with a dedication to ongoing HR learning Supervisory experience One or more years of work experience within higher education Working knowledge of Banner Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to: remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.
