Academic Support Services Job Description:
Academic Support Services at Madison College is seeking a part-time Academic Engagement Partner at our Goodman South Campus. This position provides academic support through tutoring, mentoring, and the development of supplemental learning resources that promote student success. Academic Engagement Partner requires identifying learning challenges, applying effective tutoring strategies, helping students strengthen study skills and learning strategies, and collaborating with faculty and campus resources to align support with course and curriculum needs. This position contributes to independent learning, supports student success in traditionally challenging courses, and advances institutional objectives by improving student comprehension, retention, and overall academic achievement. Schedule:
This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week for 42 weeks per year. Flexible schedule during operational hours, Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 7:00pm, including Saturdays from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Accountabilities:
Enhances student independent learning by identifying challenges, creating study plans, providing subject support through tutoring and guiding students toward effective strategies that promote academic success. Develops and implements supplemental learning activities, workshops and resources to improve student comprehension and retention using data analysis for continuous improvement. Expands the reach and impact of academic support resources to campuses leading outreach efforts, collaborating with faculty and integrating best practices in academic support. Strengthens student success by connecting learners to study plans, academic and collaborative resources and developing targeted tutoring content to address diverse learning needs. Reinforces classroom instruction through structured individual and small group study sessions to deepen student understanding and engagement. Elevates the effectiveness of tutoring services by mentoring and training peer tutors and staff, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable support network. Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Knowledge of tutoring strategies, learning theories and academic support techniques. Skill in assisting students to identify their best learning strategies and study skills. Ability to seek opportunities and be open to broadening knowledge base through continuing education and independent study. Knowledge of college level math and science and knowledge of data collection and assessment methods. Skill in designing and delivering individualized and group learning experiences. Skill in mentoring and training peer tutors and staff. Ability to analyze student learning needs and apply appropriate strategies. Ability to collaborate with faculty and academic departments to align tutoring and learning support with curriculum objectives. Skill in engaging positively with all populations and communities, contributing to a safe and inclusive learning and work environment. Skill in effectively and respectfully communicating with others. Minimum Requirements:
Associate Degree (Preferred Math, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology) or equivalent work experience. 2-4 years of relevant professional work experience.
