Job Description

Workforce Specialist
JOB GOAL
Connect educational content and student experiences at the Saban Center with real-world STEM career pathways. Develop workforce pipelines and provide students with tools, guidance, and experiences that align with Alabama's economic and industry needs.
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited college or university (Master's Degree preferred). 2. Alabama State Department of Education Certification in the area of Guidance Counseling. 3. Minimum of five (5) years of successful public education teaching experience, and two (2) years experience as a counselor at the high school level. 4. Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457. 5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1.
Comprehensive knowledge of principles, concepts, and skills in the guidance program. 2. Knowledge of local and state workforce development initiatives and policies. 3. Technologically literate and adept at using the latest in tech tools, applications, and platforms, especially in the domain of student counseling and guidance. 4. Ability to create interest through the use of materials, techniques, and methods appropriate to the varying abilities and backgrounds of individual students. 5. Skills in the use of evaluation instruments consistent with the goals and objectives. 6. Skills in individual and group counseling for the purpose of identifying and helping students with special needs. 7. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, industry partners, and community stakeholders. 8. Skilled and effective in oral and written communication.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Designs and implements career "sightlines" (K-6) and career "pathways" (7-12) for students. Leads the Career Lab, where students explore careers and training opportunities. Develops and maintains the "Hot Jobs" exhibit featuring high-demand STEM careers. Guides students in developing personalized career plans. Incorporate platforms like Kuder or Xello to provide broad exposure to career options. Coordinate with local and state industry partners to connect students to real-world opportunities Organize guest talks and career visits from STEM professionals across Alabama Assists administration and other specialists in interpreting data and designing approaches to improve student experiences and instruction. Interprets the abilities and disabilities of students and works collaboratively with classroom teachers who have these students. Completes reports, collects data, and provides information for program monitoring as requested. Assists administrative personnel in the selection, mentoring, coaching, and induction of new Saban Center personnel. Attends staff meetings, applicable professional development, and programs in instruction and curriculum. Performs other assignments as assigned by the supervisor. Takes leave time in accordance with Board policy and reports all absences to the district's absence management system. Reports to work on time and regularly as designated by work schedule (Saban Center schedule may not align with the TCS academic calendar. Saban Center employees will follow Saban Center event schedule, which may include occasional evening hours, weekends, and summer obligations.) Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
The terms of employment shall be in accordance with provisions of the TCS Board's Policy Manual, Students First Act , Saban Center Board Policy , and the TCS Board's Salary Schedule - Specialist. This is a 245 contract day position.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the TCS Board's policy on
