Job Description
HR Generalist Iron Horse is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support our growing team. This role will assist with employee relations, documentation, onboarding, compliance, benefits administration, and day-to-day HR operations in a fast-paced construction environment. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, approachable, and comfortable working with both field and office employees. Construction industry experience is strongly preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred to support our diverse workforce. Key Responsibilities Employee Relations Serve as a point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and HR-related matters Support a positive, productive, and team-oriented work environment Assist with resolving employee conflicts, complaints, and workplace issues Partner with managers to address performance, attendance, and conduct concerns. Performance Management Support performance reviews, goal setting, and improvement plans Provide guidance to managers regarding coaching, corrective actions, and disciplinary procedures. Track employee performance documentation and follow-up items Identify opportunities for employee growth and development. Compliance & Policy Administration Maintain compliance with federal, multiple state, and local employment laws and regulations, including EEOC and leave administration requirements. Keep employee handbooks, HR policies, and procedures updated. Maintain confidentiality employee records and all company documentation. Ensure proper documentation of incident reports, verbal warnings, written warnings, and investigations HR Administration Maintain HR records and ensure accuracy of employee data. Process employee status changes including promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and separations Assist with payroll support, benefits administration, and employee enrollments Support leave of absence administration and employee benefit inquiries Track required certifications, safety trainings, acknowledgements, and compliance documentation Coordinate pre-employment processes including drug screenings, onboarding paperwork, and orientation Support recruiting efforts and coordinate hiring activities with managers Handle termination paperwork and exit processes Prepare HR reports, maintain personnel files, and assist with audits as needed Qualifications 3+ years of HR experience, preferably in the construction industry Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required Knowledge of employment laws, HR practices, and compliance requirements Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills Proficient in
