DEFINITION:
Under general supervision, the Human Resources Specialist is responsible for providing all district employees, both prospective and current, with a superior human resources experience by conducting every step of the employee life cycle with professionalism, confidentiality and accuracy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

TASKS:
Responsible for the entry, maintenance, and update of employee records in automated databases and manual files for administrators, certified, classified, professional-non-teaching, coaches, volunteers, vendors and substitute employees Maintains internet job postings on the employment website Reviews and maintains the District's applicant database; works closely with administrators to ensure needs are met in regards to filling vacancies and screening eligible applicants Conducts confidential background inquiries on proposed employees, as needed Reviews employment applications to determine if qualifications have been met; confers with applicants regarding outcome of application screening, interview selection and requirements Processes all Personnel Action Requests and applicant information as needed for board approvals and applies all applicable District policies, payroll and federal and state laws related to employment; Processes and prepares all employee paperwork in accordance with state and federal statutes and District policy, such as I-9 verification, E-Verify, Arizona New Hires, and Arizona State Retirement Online System Assists employees with personnel policies; provides general information about the District's benefits to employees and assists with enrollment, maintains confidentiality with regards to all employee personnel files and issues Processes new hires, coordinates the fingerprinting process, sends approval letters to new hires, and assists with new employee orientation Provides employee information to hiring supervisors or employees as requested, generates and distributes periodic personnel reports Monitors certification and fingerprint status of certified employees and provides support for obtaining certifications as needed Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
Knowledge of District policies and procedures. Knowledge of federal and state laws related to employment practices Knowledge of Arizona State Department of Education certification rules, regulations and laws Knowledge of Arizona Statute in regards to Educational employee fingerprinting requirements Knowledge of daily human resources operations. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software programs. Skill in the use of a personal computer. Skill in organizing schedules and meetings and preparing letters and reports. Skill in communicating with the public effectively. Skill in following oral and written instructions. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor, and may require some lifting.
QUALIFICATIONS
: High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of related experience in a human resources office, or an equivalent combination of training and education. Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
