Purpose of the Position The HR Generalist supports multi-location restaurant operations by managing day-to-day human resources functions with a strong focus on employee relations, compliance, recruiting support, onboarding, and workforce administration. This role serves as a key partner to managers and employees, ensuring consistent application of company policies, compliance with California labor laws, and a positive employee experience across all restaurant locations. Salary $75,000 - $80,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for the annual incentive plan based on individual and company performance. Benefits Competitive Pay Employer Contribution for individuals medical insurance 401(k) Plan with company match Paid Time Off (PTO) to support work-life balance Job Responsibilities Recruitment & Onboarding Manage full-cycle recruitment support including job postings, resume screening, interview coordination, and candidate communication. Coordinate hiring needs with restaurant managers based on staffing requirements. Conduct or support job fairs and local recruitment efforts. Prepare onboarding materials, ensure completion of new hire documentation, and maintain compliance. Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure a smooth onboarding experience. Track onboarding progress, training completion, and required documentation. Employee Relations & Compliance Serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and managers regarding workplace concerns, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution. Support managers with performance management, corrective action, coaching, and disciplinary processes. Conduct workplace investigations involving complaints, misconduct, harassment, or policy violations; document findings and recommend appropriate action. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and California labor laws and company policies. Monitor changes in employment law and recommend updates to policies, handbooks, and practices. Partner with HR leadership to support employee relations strategies that promote engagement, retention, and a positive workplace culture. Act as a trusted advisor to employees, ensuring fairness, consistency, and confidentiality. HR Administration & Compliance Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in HRIS systems. Track certifications, training completion, and policy acknowledgments. Support HR audits and compliance reporting requirements. Assist with employee status changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, and transfers. Ensure documentation accuracy for legal and operational compliance. Required Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of HR practices, employee relations, and California labor law. Experience in restaurant, hospitality, or high-volume hourly workforce environments strongly preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with HRIS systems (ADP or similar preferred). Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-location environment. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted. 2-4 years of experience in Human Resources or HR Generalist role. Restaurant, hospitality, or multi-unit operations experience strongly preferred. Experience handling employee relations cases and investigations preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) or similar tools. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through. Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally. Must be 18 years of age or older and legally authorized to work in the United States. Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) is a bonus but not required.
