Bachelor's degree One (1) year of experience in a human resources or related environmentKey Responsibilities:
Performs recruitment and selection activities, including auditing New Staffing Requests for compliance/completeness, composing/editing job advertisements for web postings, agencies, and newspapers, and attending search committee meetings and interviews. Advises supervisors in all areas of HR. Assists personnel with human resources inquiries. Assesses, tracks, reviews, and routes Employment Action Form (EAF) packets to ensure accuracy of information. Serves as onboarding and fingerprinting contact for new employees. Distributes required new hire information to appropriate departments and performs necessary screening procedures (i.e. background screenings). Manages all activities related to proper personnel file maintenance, public records requests and catalog maintenance while maintaining confidentiality, efficiency in compliance with state retention requirements and effective workflow. Organizes and maintains DSC employment records and makes file copies. Coordinates and reviews both probationary and annual employee evaluations to ensure periodic receipt of one for each employee. Serves as backup for coordination and administering of new employee orientations. Attends or conducts staff, committee, and other professional meetings to exchange information. Prepares and maintains various reports and recruitment records. Serves as a resource for employees and applicants regarding benefit options and provides assistance as needed. Creates and distributes employee educational materials related to benefits, annual enrollment, upcoming changes, vendor visits, and informational sessions. Delivers training and educational sessions on employee benefits and related topics. Plans and coordinates year-round events by developing schedules, programs, and agendas; oversees event activities; and arranges required services such as audio-visual support, facilities, catering, signage, materials, and other logistical needs.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and organize work priorities. Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal and customer service skills. Demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner. Knowledge of computers, peripherals, and software programs such as Microsoft Suite. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and be flexible to meet the demands of the College. Take direction as well as work effectively and professionally on their own. Excellent verbal communication and public-speaking skills, including presentations for New Employee Orientation (NEO), Service Awards, and other group events.
