Job Description

This is an intermediate level professional position in the City's Human Resources, Employment Division, involving duties related to general employment and applicant processing, background investigations, and hiring. Work includes routine and special projects relating to receiving, updating, and maintaining candidate and employee records; coordinating scheduling activities, including medical examinations; reviewing questionnaires and applicant files to determine qualifications; maintaining a broad variety of department records in compliance with applicable regulations and City policy; and providing various support services to departmental supervisors and managers. Work involves use of a HRMS software system, including troubleshooting, maintenance, data entry and data validation; and competently interpreting and communicating City policies, Union contracts, and applicable employment laws and regulations. An employee in this class will be required to properly plan and schedule time to meet deadlines; adapt to changing priorities and conditions; and work closely with other divisions and City personnel.
Salary:
$54,540 - $86,664•The starting salary for the position will not exceed Step 3, $58,594.

Applicants must:
Have a valid Bachelor's degree . Have prior experience in Human Resources, particularly with pre-employment background investigations, HRMS database entry, and new employee onboarding. Have prior experience in the use of HRMS software systems, especially responsibility for data entry and auditing entered data for errors. Be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite of applications with emphasis on Word, Excel, and Outlook. Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Be able to independently plan and schedule time to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities. Be able to analyze and successfully resolve technical and administrative problems. Have prior experience providing customer service. Desirable Qualifications.
Preferred applicants:
Have previous Human Resources experience working for a local, county, or state government. Are proficient in the use and operation of HRMS systems, preferably Oracle eBusiness Suite.
