Various locations At Hopkins Public Schools, we believe that our strength lies in the diversity of our students, staff, and community. We are a proudly inclusive E-12 district serving approximately 7,200 students across the City of Hopkins and surrounding communities. Our district represents a rich mosaic of cultures, backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences; we value and celebrate that diversity in everything we do. As an academically rigorous and human-centered district, we are committed to fostering a welcoming environment where every student and staff member feels seen, heard, and valued. There is no "typical" Hopkins student, and we embrace this truth as a catalyst for innovation, growth, and equity in learning. We seek educators and staff who are equity-minded, culturally responsive, and deeply committed to creating inclusive spaces where all learners can thrive. We welcome candidates who are passionate about dismantling systemic barriers, advancing justice, and preparing students to become bold, collaborative, and compassionate global citizens. When you join Hopkins Public Schools, you are not just joining a district, you are becoming part of a community that honors difference, nurtures potential, and inspires remarkable achievement in every learner, from birth through graduation. You are welcome at Hopkins. You belong at Hopkins. This role is funded through Achievement & Integration dollars and will support implementation of the Achievement & Integration plan. Summary The Advanced Academics Equity Specialist ensures equitable access to and success in advanced learning opportunities across Hopkins Public Schools. This role supports schools in examining participation, access, and outcomes in advanced academic programming through an equity-focused lens, aligned to the Achievement & Integration (A&I) Plan. Through coaching, professional learning, and data analysis, the Advanced Academics Equity Specialist partners with educators and leaders to strengthen systems, practices, and instructional approaches that expand advanced learning opportunities for students of color and students receiving educational benefits. MEASURES OF ACCOMPLISHMENT
Equitable early access to advanced learning is maintained by aligning preschool demographics within ±3 percentage points of kindergarten enrollment, using multiple measures to identify readiness, providing proactive advising to BIPOC and F/R students, and removing financial barriers to participation. Clear, consistently communicated academic pathways from elementary literacy through advanced secondary coursework are established. Structural gatekeeping is eliminated by regularly reviewing and revising prerequisites, recommendations, and advising practices, and documenting system-level adjustments in response to equity findings. Rigor and consistency in advanced learning are ensured by defining IB MYP Levels 58 performance indicators and conducting cross-school calibration of Level 78 scoring, in collaboration with building IB coordinators. Equitable access, persistence, and outcomes are monitored through a standardized Advanced Coursework Equity Dashboard disaggregated by race and F/R status and reviewed annually through the A&I reporting cycle. Persistence and success in advanced coursework is tracked, including continued enrollment, assessment participation, and proportional representation over time. A coherent educator pipeline through preparation is established and sustained program partnerships, aligned internships, Grow Your Own funding (prioritizing candidates of color), and targeted initiatives such as Black Men Teach. Educator pipeline efforts are coordinated and tracked through a designated district lead responsible for partnerships, placements, and candidate progression. Retention and professional experience of staff of color is improved through affinity spaces, mentorship, onboarding, and equitable access to leadership and advanced instructional opportunities. Workforce equity is monitored by establishing baseline retention and assignment data, reviewing staffing and reduction-in-force impacts, and tracking year-over-year representation in advanced coursework roles.
