Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Representative is responsible for administrative functions to ensure that internal and external applicants, candidates, and employees receive excellent guest service. The HR Representative will assist with organizing, filing, and other clerical HR duties. The Human Resources Representative role is a developmental HR role that will include training and development, and the incumbent must be willing to learn, have excellent guest service skills, and needs to be dependable and consistent.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet business needs. Conducts new applicant screenings to ensure they are qualified. Supports and assists with creating recruitment advertising and job postings, effectively utilizing the appropriate advertising mediums including LinkedIn, Glassdoor, job boards and social media Participate in job fairs, recruiting and human resources development events Assists with daily maintenance of HRIS System for recruitment and employee records Develops and maintains professional relationships with applicant resources such as colleges, universities and other employment agencies Responds to employment inquiries and refers to appropriate manager or department. Assists with in-person and virtual interview process by preparing interview packets and scheduling interviews. Ensures hiring process is complete for each person, utilizing ADP Workforce (including proper documents, background check, drug screen, create personnel file, IT Ticket, entering employee payroll, direct deposit and tax information, etc.) Assists with new staff orientation process (required forms, orientation, training, and communication.) Conducts exit interviews, bringing suggestions for improvement to HR Director and or designated staff. Sets up rooms for meetings, interviews, trainings, and orientations Assists with staff recognition and engagement programs Maintains historical human resource records; keeping past and current records; ensures personnel files are complete, organized, and filed securely Performs other processes (i.e.) employee requests, employment verifications, etc. as requested or needed Keeps updated on PIIC current events, changes in the workplace, policies, and procedures Responds to HR email inquiries on a regular schedule and forwards where applicable Other duties as assignedMINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED Excellent interpersonal skills Problem resolution and critical thinking skills Integrity, maturity, dependability and strong work ethic Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail Knowledge of technology and tools for best practices or willing to learn Sound judgement and problem-solving skills Familiar with employment and labor laws or willing to train. Ability to enthusiastically and professionally promote Prairie Island as the employer of choice Ability to maintain strict standards of confidentiality Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong computer skills Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) or willing to train. Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision Ability to work well within the existing team and government structure Sensitive to Native American Culture Must pass drug screen (UA) and a criminal background check Valid driver's license and proof of insurabilityPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS HR
experience in government and/or tribal setting HRIS navigational skillsPHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time with occasional amounts of standing or walking Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 poundsREQUIRED TRAINING
