Job Description

Human Resources Generalist St. Louis, MO Job Description The Human Resources Generalist supports day-to-day HR operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with plant leadership and employees to drive HR initiatives, ensure compliance with employment regulations, and promote workforce engagement across the facility. The position blends hands-on support on the production floor with strategic HR guidance and administrative execution, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being visible, accessible, and actively involved in operations. Responsibilities Act as the primary HR resource for employees and supervisors across the manufacturing site, providing guidance and support on HR-related matters. Support full-cycle recruitment efforts, including creating job postings, screening candidates, coordinating and conducting interviews, and managing onboarding activities. Administer HR programs such as compensation, benefits, payroll support, and leave of absence processes to ensure accurate and timely delivery. Manage employee relations issues by conducting investigations, documenting findings, and providing coaching and guidance to leadership and employees. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures. Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data, including hires, terminations, status changes, and other personnel actions. Assist with performance management processes, including performance evaluations, corrective actions, and talent development initiatives. Support training initiatives such as new hire onboarding, compliance training, and ongoing development programs for employees and supervisors. Partner with safety and environmental health and safety teams to support workplace safety initiatives and compliance requirements. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. 2-5+ years of human resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices. Demonstrated experience handling employee relations, investigations, and performance management. Familiarity with HRIS systems such as Workday, ADP, Paylocity, or similar platforms. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and support production teams. Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in HR documentation and data. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience supporting an hourly or non-exempt workforce within a manufacturing environment. Exposure to safety or environmental health and safety programs in a plant setting. HR certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP. Experience working with Workday as an HRIS is preferred. Experience with human resources generalist responsibilities in a plant or industrial setting. Comfort working on the production floor and building relationships with both office and production employees. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs while maintaining high-quality HR support. Work Environment This role is primarily onsite in a manufacturing plant environment with regular interaction with both office staff and production employees. The position follows an on-site schedule Monday through Friday from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with some flexibility provided. The Human Resources Generalist spends time in both office and production areas to support operations and maintain visibility with the workforce. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, requiring comfort working around manufacturing equipment and production activities while collaborating closely with plant leadership, safety teams, and employees across all shifts. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
