COMPENSATION
$30/hr x 30 hrs. Weekly($46,800/yr)
Total Package Value:
$62,700/yr (includes $15,600 benefits)
STATUS:
Full-Time (30 hrs/wk) | M-F, 11:30 AM - 5:30 PM (Requires periodic flexibility for field trips or special event days) MISSION We are building a highly collaborative, neurodiversity-affirming support model focused on dynamic inclusion, active mentorship, and communication partnership in community settings. This is a professional, community-integrated role focused on modeling adaptive skills to inspire independence - fundamentally distinct from standard passive care, a home health aide role, or ABA-based therapy. You will serve as the vital link and steady anchor for an exceptional 2:1 staff-to-client team. Collaborating with the Family Manager, a special education tutor, a Junior DSP, and therapists, you will unify daily schedules to drive dynamic learning, inclusion, and engagement.
APPLICANT PROFILE
This position is a perfect next step for an experienced high school paraprofessional ready to transition to a setting outside of school, or a graduate holding a degree in: Special Education / Human Services / Behavioral Science Neuroscience / Neurobiology / Psychology Speech-Language Pathology / Occupational Therapy
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES DSP
Leadership:
Serve as the senior support professional; coordinate and overlap with the private tutor to implement dynamic community programs while directing junior staff.
Program Integration:
Execute and refine instructional programming across adaptive, social, safety, and vocational skill sets.
Advocacy & Support:
Prioritize the client's autonomy in community settings while honoring non-verbal cues, body language, and alternative communication attempts.
Community Connection:
Accompany and support the client during social settings, AAC user groups, and specialized small group day camps.
Technical Support:
Support functional communication via his AAC platform, TouchChat (training provided), and collaborate with staff to implement other Assistive Technologies (AT).
Administration:
Manage senior-level progress reporting and program compliance data.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Graduate with a degree in special education, human services, neuroscience, speech pathology, occupational therapy, behavioral science, or a related field.
Experience:
Dedicated individual with experience supporting young adults with autism (high school age and beyond).
Logistics:
Clean driving record, reliable vehicle, and appropriate insurance strictly required for shared community driving (mileage is competitively reimbursed).
Tech-Oriented:
Proficient with modern digital tools (tablets/smartphones) and eager to learn specialized communication platforms.
