Job Description

We are APM Terminals Elizabeth, and you will join our People Team as an HR Intern focused on building structure, clarity, and consistency across how roles are defined and supported at the terminal. This internship plays a critical role in strengthening our hiring accuracy, workforce planning, and long‑term talent strategy by creating a centralized, organized repository of job content and interview materials. You will gain exposure to the full HR lifecycle, including recruiting and selection, performance management activities, onboarding, and employee documentation. This role offers hands‑on experience in HR operations, process development, and compliance within a fast‑paced operational environment. You will work closely with HR, Operations, Planning, HSSE, and other functional leaders to understand how roles operate on the terminal and how people processes support safe and efficient operations. Exposure to real‑world HR operations within a complex terminal environment, with hands‑on involvement in day‑to‑day people processes Opportunities to develop foundational HR, recruiting, and workforce planning skills through structured projects and cross‑functional collaboration A supportive team environment that values learning, open communication, and balanced workloads Professional development through mentoring, feedback, and visibility into broader people and leadership initiatives Key Responsibilities Collect, organize, and standardize job descriptions for all terminal roles at APM Terminals Elizabeth Build a centralized library of role profiles, competencies, interview guides, and evaluation tools Review and validate job documentation for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with operational requirements Support the development of structured interview questions, rubrics, and hiring packets for managers Assist with resume screening, interview scheduling, and preparation of recruiting materials Support Performance Management Process activities, including documentation and communication materials Contribute to onboarding documentation, employee file audits, and HR compliance efforts Participate in HR projects related to engagement, communication, and continuous improvement Collaborate with frontline leaders and subject matter experts to ensure role requirements reflect how work is actually performed What We Are Looking For Continuous improvement mindset: we are looking for someone who brings a strong mindset of continuous improvement - someone who is naturally curious, committed to solving problems at the root, and driven to make things better every day Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Communications, or a related field, with an expected graduation in December 2026 or May 2027 Demonstrated interest in human resources, recruiting, organizational development, or workforce planning Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail when managing documents and data Ability to write clearly, professionally, and concisely for job descriptions and role summaries Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with SharePoint or document management systems is an advantage Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments Ability to handle confidential information with integrity, sound judgment, and professionalism Eligibility to work in the

Interns will work full-time during the summer and part-time during the academic year. No overtime.
