Job Description

U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Office of Human Resources Management (HRM), National Recruitment Division, has employment opportunities available for experienced HR professionals in Fort Drum, NY for Veterans-see details in the Duties and Qualifications sections. This Human Resources Specialist (Recruitment) position will allow you to use your expertise by assisting as a subject matter expert in a variety of assignments involving recruitment.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
  • Identifying recruitment needs based on hiring plans, current staffing levels and future staffing needs of assigned CBP Program;
  • Collaborating with program office/subject matter experts (SMEs) for joint and/or individual attendance at job fairs, college recruitment fairs, conferences, and annual professional meetings;
  • Developing new methods and techniques to resolve difficult recruitment problems or situations that involve significant uncertainty and may not always have precedents available for reference; and
  • Preparing research findings and briefs for National Recruitment Division (NRD) leadership.
Salary and Benefits This position starts at a salary of $74,678 (GS-11 Step 1) or $89,508 (GS-12), depending upon the level of your qualifications. Employees receive the full package of federal employment benefits that include health and insurance plans, a generous annual and sick leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan akin to a traditional 401(k) offering.
Qualifications Note:
This job is only open to military veterans. See Important Note in Duties section. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-11, you must have: a) One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level: Providing support, guidance or technical services on human resources matters; Applying human resources regulations, policies and procedures to resolve conventional issues and problems; Conducting fact-finding and recommending solutions to resolve procedural or recurring issues in one or more HR functional areas; OR Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree (i.e., Ph.D. or equivalent) in an appropriate field OR Completed 3 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in an appropriate field OR LL.M., if related OR Have an equivalent combination of experience and graduate study as discussed in a), b), c) and d) above. To qualify for GS-12 , you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level: Providing advisory or consultative services to managers or leadership related to human resources products and services Interpreting and applying HR laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to resolve issues and recommend appropriate courses of action Identifying, evaluating, and recommending solutions for problems or issues in one or more HR functional areas How to
