The Cleveland Museum of Natural History founded in 1920, is located in the heart of University Circle, five miles east of downtown Cleveland, Ohio. As Ohio's largest natural history museum, we use our vast collections and state-of-the art facilities to contribute to scientific understanding worldwide. Our scientists conduct research across a variety of disciplines, making groundbreaking discoveries about early human ancestors, ancient Ohio, animal and plant life around the world, and more. We steward more than 12,500 acres of wild habitats through our Natural Areas Program, working to protect the environment of northern Ohio and the diverse species that call it home. The HR Generalist supports the day-today operations of the Human Resources function. This position is responsible for recruitment support, onboarding, HR record keeping, benefits administration, and providing frontline support to employees. The HR Generalist ensures consistent application of policies and processes, while maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and organizational practices. Key Responsibilities Post jobs, screen resumes, coordinate interviews, and manage onboarding paperwork and logistics. Conduct new hire orientation, ensure completion of onboarding forms, and coordinate exit logistics. Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions and concerns; escalate complex matters to HR leadership. Track attendance, provide basic union information to employees, and document grievances. Apply HR policies consistently; maintain personnel files; support HR audits. Assist employees with benefit enrollments, changes, claims, and leave forms; maintain benefit records. Update HRIS with new hires, terminations, and changes; process payroll inputs. Track performance evaluations, send reminders, and ensure forms are completed and filed. Coordinate logistics for training sessions; maintain training and professional development records. Support employee engagement surveys and events; promote recognition programs. Run standard HR reports (headcount, turnover, compliance). Provide support and administrative follow-up for HR projects as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience. 2-4 years of Human Resources experience. Knowledge of HR laws and practices. Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite. (ADP Experience preferred).
